@HisIrishPrincess:  Really because that would be really shitty thing to do to your friends for a parade that is every year to a one time deal. Shows you how much you care about your friends doesn’t it

@HisIrishPrincess:  really?? You’d ditch a once in a lifetime party for a friend so that you could go to a parade that happens every year? That says way more about you than anything else and I think it’s really unfortunate.

I am from Vegas and St Patricks day is a big deal here as well, as is any holiday where u can start drinking at 9 am. My bday is the 19th. I have always enjoyed and appreciated going out for my bday and St. Patricks day. My bachelorette party last year was this same weekend as well. All of the people who mattered came and celebrated my bday/bachelorette night. I wouldnt worry about friends not showing to your shower. If they dont, they arent good friends anyway.

@Sassygrn:    She herself isn’t happy about it.  No one I know would schedule a “once in a lifetime” party for that day? You could have it the next day or… any other day of the year.

Your shower, which is being hosted for you, is going to suck? That’s not very nice. I would reconsider those friendships if they skip your shower to go to a parade.

@MrsCreeToBe:  I highly doubt your friends would skip your shower. They might want to, but I doubt they actually would. I also doubt anyone would have a poor attitude that day. I’m missing a NASCAR race I’ve been looking forward to for a year and a Dierks Bentley concert, who I love, to be in my friend’s wedding. Yeah I’m a little disappointed, but her day is more important than a race that happens every year and a concert I’m sure will happen again. You can bet your ass I’m not gonna show one sign of disappointment either!

You have some seriously shit friends if they choose that over your shower. I cannot imagine not attending my friends shower because of a St. Patty’s Day event that happens every year.  Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it, but I hope you have a great shower and hope that your friends pull through for you.

@HisIrishPrincess:  But she isn’t the one who planned it. Seriously that is messed up if you can’t make time to skip a parade that is held every year for a bridal shower that is going to be held once.

Make the most of it!  Have a blast at the shower and then plan on all hitting the parade/bar events that night together – I know it’s not easy but try and embrace it and use it to your advantage!!

I would rather die than attend a parade, and truthfully.. if your friends would rather hit up a parade, that happens every year, than attend your bridal shower.. well, that speaks volumes.

@HisIrishPrincess:  And no one I know would think that a parade could possibly be a bigger priority than a friend’s celebration. You could go to the parade the next year, or the next year, or the next…

@MrsCreeToBe:  Have fun at your shower, then do an afterparty at the bars! It’s going to be fun, enjoy it.

@aussiemum1248:  +1.  The people closest to you I’m sure will pick your shower over the parade.  If they do and then complain about it, well then, they’re still not very good friends.  If they don’t come – then I guess you know who your true friends are.

@annifer:  Or I could go this year, drop a gift off.  Again in MY family, my friends …. no one would have booked it for that day.  Too many people in my famly are in the parade, including my uncles and my nieces … It has nothing to do with going out and getting pissed … it’s a family thing.  Sorry but that trumps bridal shower.

I highly doubt your friends will skip your shower to go to the parade.  You guys could plan to go out and celebrate afterwards!

If it makes you feel better, my wedding was on St. Patrick’s Day weekend last year, and all of my 20-something friends and family came to my wedding, then out celebrating at the bars after the reception ended.  It truly isn’t a big deal!

@HisIrishPrincess:  Oh, I totally missed it was a family thing for you! I get that, absolutely.

But it sounds like for the OP’s pals it IS just a drunk thing, and that has to sting, you know?
