@Miss Fish I’m so sorry, that’s a horrible way to find out, and very selfish on the part of your biological father.

Could you maybe have a small lunch/tea date or something similar for you, your mom and your grandma to talk about and remember her? Or you could plant a tree or a flowering bush in her memory. Just something to honour her life in your own way, and to help give you a bit of closure.

My thoughts are with you.

I’m really sorry, that’s awful.  I agree with @PitBulLover, I hope you can find some closure.  Do you know where she’s buried?  Perhaps you could go there and lay some nice flowers and a note.

@Miss Fish  Did she have other family or friends?  Could you somehow contact them?  Aren’t deaths a matter of public record somehow?  I mean, even if there isn’t an obituary, there has to be some notice of it.  Maybe you could call the county clerk?

@Miss Fish  Do you know of any of the major cemetaries in that town?  If so, I’d call them, ask them if she’s buried there and tell them that you just learned of your grandmothers passing, she had no other family or friends and that you are estranged from your father.  If you give them the month of her death that’ll be easy for them to find it.

I’m so sorry for you. That’s an awful way to find out that someone you love has passed on. I agree with many of the previous posters, plant something in her honor. And maybe a small plaque or stone with a poem or statement for her.

@Miss Fish I found out my grandmother died via facebook. We had a falling out years ago (when I was 15), and she hasnt spoken to me since. It was heartbreaking.

And just recently I found out my uncle passed via a google search. It’s weird, I had been thiking about him and decided to google his name only to find out that he passed away that week.
