I just got a call to interview for a position that I applied for a month or so ago! I have mixed emotions about this for several reasons..
1. I really love where I work right now, but I’ve been here as a temp for 6 months and every time I have the talk with my supervisor about bringing me on permanently, the date moves up. The last time we sat down, she told me that she needs and wants me here and that it would probably be April or May before I got hired on. The people are great, the benefits are great, the company is profitable, and I get along super well with my manager. The only real downside is that it’s about a 30 mile commute from FI’s house (my house, too, in 5 weeks eek!) which would probably take more like 45 minutes with traffic and all. And the pay is just ok.
2. This new position would have responsibilities that I’ve always said I think I would love! Without getting too specific (in the off chance someone from my current company sees this) I’m in HR and have mostly done benefits and overall HR coordinator type roles with a little recruiting. I love recruiting and have also always wanted to get more into the training aspect of HR. Well this position is a training specialist with a really good and very well known company. I don’t know the pay yet but from what I’m seeing online, the benefits are pretty good. And it’s only like 15 minutes from the house.
3. A former co-worker interviewed for this same position back in November/December so the fact that it’s still open/open again concerns me a little. Are they that anal and picky about who they hire? Did someone go in and hate it? If so, was it because they weren’t a good fit or is the company terrible to work for? I’ve been on GlassDoor and there are mixed reviews, but most of the bad ones are from the part time call center people.
The thing is that I’m getting ready to get married and I need to have stability in my job. The first step is just a phone screen, so I’m definitely going to go ahead with that part, at least, but moving forward, I’m not sure what I will do. I don’t know what I’m looking for in posting this other than I just wanted to tell someone and obviously I can’t be calling people while I’m at work and I certainly can’t tell my co-workers! 🙂 Thanks for listening and if you have any helpful advice, I’m all ears!
