I literally just picked my rings up from being soldered. My rings are a size 5 and are usually a little loose and spin around on my fingers. When I dropped them off, the girl at the store even commented on how loose they were and asked if I wanted to size them down. I said no because I liked having the wiggle room.
Today, I picked up my rings and they are so tight! Like, they left an impression in my finger. I should note that before I picked them up I had dinner outside with friends in 95 degree heat, but would that make my fingers swell that bad that the ring hurt? Or is it a possibility that the soldering made them go from a little loose to way too tight?
The manager of the jewelery store even commented that they looked too snug but we speculated that it could have been from the heat. However, I noticed how uncomfortable they were when I got home so I called to inquire about it. He said that most people have their rings sized up a quarter size prior to soldering due to the tighter fit. However, their employee asked if I wanted to size DOWN, sizing up to account for the solder was never even mentioned. He said that I should give it a day and if it still feels too tight on Thursday to bring it in and they would have to size it up. This will cost like $150 more though. The soldering itself was expensive as it is ($180), I really don’t want to dish out more money.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is it possible that my fingers really just swell that much from sitting outside in the heat and humidity for dinner? My rings have never felt this tight before due to heat.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
