Oh, when I had mine out it was HORRIBLE! I was in pain for a week. I hope yours doesn’t last that  long. Are you drinking with a straw?

I could only eat mashed potatoes for a while till I felt better.

I’m so sorry. I hope you feel better soon.

: ( I cried when I had my wisdom teeth out.  Are you not taking pain medicine?  I’m sorry that even drinking water is painful (I don’t remember if that was the case for me- it’s been 11 years) but dehydration is super uncomfortable as I’m sure you know.  Can you use a straw to sort of keep the water away from your teeth?  Even if you have to use it like a dropper?  Just to avoid a headache.

It gets 100% better I promise!

Did they not give you pain medicine? I was in pain like you are talking about in the time between when the drugs they gave me wore off, and when I was able to get my painkillers filled and taken.

Try to just rest and relax. Take as much time as you need off of work and do not try to push yourself.

Also, you may have already been told this, but do not drink from a straw, smoke or suck on anything for a few weeks. If you are in pain now, you do NOT want dry sockets (I had them in 2 of my incisions and it was the worst pain I’ve ever felt).

Did you get prescribed pain medication? I can see that you would still be bleeding at the 4 hour mark. Water should not be that painful though. *hugs* I know you’re not supposed to use a straw, but maybe you could get one of those medicne syringes that a lot of parents use to give their kids medicine orally, perhaps you could fill that with water and basically bypass your teeth?

I remember your previous post about this! So you did decide to pull the trigger, huh? I have had teeth extracted before but not the wisdom teeth. It’s not fun. My sympathies!!

Do you have a syringe? Perhaps you can get one and use it to squirt water on the back of your tongue and drink that way?

yourhandinmine :  I would contact your doctor to see if there’s anything different they could give you. I was prescribed Tylenol 3 with codeine for a root canal and it didn’t touch my pain either – I was given vicodin for my wisdom teeth and it definitely helped my pain (but made me nauseous, but that was better than the pain I experienced)

I had all four of mine out not that long ago I was given Tylenol 3’s and amoxacillin, if you don’t have both of those you could ask. And yes, do not drink with a straw, from what I hear a dry socket is the last thing you want! Are you applying pressure with the gauze, like jam it into place and then clench your teeth. If you don’t stop bleeding you should go back to your surgeon.

Have you tried eating soup, at least there is some liquid in that still and with eating it with a spoon it might not wash all over your entire mouth.
