I decided early on in my planning that I would be doing my own makeup, I have photographed several weddings where the Bride has opted to go this route and I almost always like it more than the heavy handed makeup artists approach. That being said I wanted higher quality makeup, and it just so happens that a Store in our area was having a “makeup Expo” with Artist from Boston. It was a free trail but you where of course encourage to purchase some product. The entire thing was wonderful right up until the moment I wanted to purchase a few things! Because I need almost everything and of course the artist was using the higher end of their lines it all came with a pretty hefty price tag…I chose to purchase all the base items first ( a lot of skin care stuff) and hold off on the colors until I was sure this was the look I wanted. From the moment the woman found out I was only purchasing a portion of the package (around 180 dollars worth of product) she became pushy and rude. She insulted my skin saying that I NEEDED to purchase certain items today if I wanted to look “decent” at my wedding. Because she was being so pushy I decided to get an additional purchase and when I walked around the counter to tell her she was talking about how cheap I was with another consultant!
I am so upset by the whole thing that I cant even tell if I like the makeup, the whole thing just has left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Sorry about all the crying Bee’s I just needed to vent! All that aside what do you guys think of the makeup?

I think the makeup is nice, but IMO you should take your business elsewhere. You shouldn’t buy a thing off someone who would treat you that way.

@Jlee28: Ok, the makeup is beautiful, but I would have thrown everything back at that woman and demanded my money back! No look is worth that kind of treatment!

@Jlee28: Wow. How freaking rude. She had to know that with this type of expo, it was VERY likely that MOST people wouldn’t buy ANYTHING. You must have been her first customer of the day. I’m really sorry she treated you that way. So ridiculous.
That said, I think the makeup looks fresh and pretty. I would probably had some demi lashes, just to make your eyes stand out in pictures. Other than that, I love the peachy look on your skin tone! Very pretty.

@Jlee28: I think your makeup and your skin looks great.
Screw that lady. I would’ve shown her how cheap I was and not have purchased anything.

What a hag. I think the makeup looks nice, but you should DEFINITELY make a call to her boss. There is no cause for that. What if you had been a super wealthy lady who only needed a new foundation? There’s just no cause for that at all, and that woman needs to be sweeping floors in the back or something and NOT working with the public.

I’ve returned things out of spite before. And if what happened to you today happened to me, you better believe I’d be returning the whole lot.
Yes, I think the makeup looks okay…but is it something you’re going to use except for the big day? $180 is a lot of mney to spend on makeup…for that price, you could pay someone to do your entire bridal party’s makeup and be done with it!!

I actually think the makeup looks beautiful. You have a really great skin tone, and I love that lip color! But I agree with PP, I would definitely NOT have bought from her! I don’t care if someone was trying to sell me gold bars for a dollar each, if they were rude to me like that, forget it…
I am personally so jealous when I see bees on here who do their own makeup. I can put on mascara and that is literally it! Everytime I try anything more complicated than that, it looks terrible. So I may be the wrong person to ask, but I would say your look is as good as any professional!

So manipulative what that lady did to you. I would be upset too but please know that was just a SALES TACTIC. Terrible!
By The Way I really like the trial!!! Looks fab!

The trial looks great! But, I’d take all the product you purchased and return it- that woman was such a cow! She should have been repremanded.

I wish I had had my wits about me and had not purchased, but it was so overwhelming to me, I just wanted to pay and leave. Perhaps I will return the product and I will definitely complain!!
I knew you bees would make me feel better, Thank you!

I like the make up but i agree with other bees. I don’t get why you bought more because she was saying you were cheap, that would be my cue to goo somewhere else.

You look lovely, but I agree with the PP’s! Definitely return the items and complain. That is completely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior and it really reflects badly on the brand.

I know, I just had everything in hand and my debit card out! On top of it all I have had wonderful luck with the actual store and there staff, they where only hosting the makeup artists for the day, so while I wanted to scream at the artist the purchase was with the store ( I am sure she got a portion though).
I just was not thinking clearly, I was on the verge of yelling/crying!

@Jlee28: Don’t feel bad about buying the makeup. It’s easy for all of us to say we wouldn’t buy anything from that rude b*tch when we weren’t confronted with her. I have experienced similar deer-in-headlights situations!
