- Wedding: June 2011
I think it stemmed from the fact that our church wedding coordinator just called me last evening (Tuesday) and told me that the person who makes the schedule at the church scheduled a funeral at 9:30am. Our wedding is this Saturday (aka 2 days away now) and supposed to start at 11:00am. Our florist was supposed to get there at 10:00am, along with those setting up for the wedding. The groom & groomsmen were also going to get there around 10 (church told us to have them there around 10:15 but due to transportation reasons we were going to have them get there a little early), and I was supposed to get there at 10:30. Now we have to change all that since the funeral won’t be over until about 10:30 and then we have to wait for them to clear out before we can start setting up. I’m pretty sure we’re going to end up starting our wedding late, but oh well.
Anyway, on to the nightmare… it’s long, but I remember a lot of random details… lol…
We got to the church at the new times, and the funeral was still going on. We all had to wait out in the parking lot until it was over. Our bouquets were all a little missed up (think tiny… like 2 roses each – this probably came from a startling conversation with the florist last week, but that should be all straightened out now). Then the priest was no where to be found. The church lady didn’t seem to care much, and was like “It’s ok, such and such (some random priest I’d never heard of) can do the ceremony.” We were really skeptical because we had done all the planning and preparation with our priest who we love, but we said alright.
So the girls and I got ready to walk down the aisle… and they started playing some completely wrong music. We all went anyway, even though it was really fast. And I walked down the aisle angry, so I had horrible pictures of me coming down the aisle. When I finally got to the alter, the priest wasn’t there. Just FH. We stood there staring for like 5 minutes, and then I decided to go look for the priest. Outside I saw our original priest, who we love, walking into another building with someone else. I called to him, and said something like “You’re supposed to be at our wedding!” And he said “At 3, right?” And I said, “No… 11… like 30 minutes ago!” And he just shrugged and said “Oh. Such and such can do it. He’s not busy.” So I was pissed by then! lol.
And then I decided we would just exchange our vows on our own. I went back in, got up there, and started.. “I, Rebecca, take you, Kyle.. blah blah,” and I messed them up a bit, but it was basically right, and then he started… and finally the replacement priest showed up. He was actually some kind of visiting monk. LOL. He said he’d do the wedding now, and I said, “That’s ok, we did it ourselves… but on second thought, can you just do the civil part so at least we can have the marriage license signed and official? We’re done with this church.” He agreed but we had to do it off church property, so we walked outside to the sidewalk to do it. Then FH said something about not being comfortable just doing the civil so we were considering going back inside and doing the whole Catholic Mass after all. lol.
At that point, we saw our original priest again, walking around talking about movies with someone. We tried to talk to him again, and he basically ignored us.
I woke up shortly after that and don’t really remember what else happened, but it involved tears, screaming, and throwing things. LOL. Woke up with my heart racing. I know there was more to it, but the rest is fuzzy. I wish I could make a movie of it or something to show you all since it’s actually kind of funny how it all happened and how everything looked. I usually have crazy vivid dreams, but haven’t remembered one in awhile and especially not a bad wedding one! It’s really funny because I’m completely calm about the whole thing and not worried or nervous at all… but I guess maybe my subconscious is? lol. Just had to share because there was no way I was falling right back to sleep after that one. We really do love our church and our priest is awesome, so I know it’ll be great!
