I am sorry you are going through this – but things will change, you will both get a job eventually and your husband will be in a happier job that doesn’t exploit him.

Best wishes, they probably did him a favor

I’m so sorry! While we aren’t married yet, Fiance is having a very hard time even getting a min. wage job here in rural Ky since none of them are hiring at the moment (we live in a virtual job-desert). My advice is no different than the majority of the other bees on here: find something, anything to get by with until another stable job comes about. Darn recession!!

@KristenGotMarried: You took the words right out of my mouth.

Right now get any job you can find. Apply every where. Some stores might offer employee discounts, so go where you shop. Go to restraurants. Go everywhere. Right now you guys just need money coming in until you can get back into your fields.

@HotPinkFire: YES!!  Take it if it’s offered, and keep looking.

I took a job last summer just to have A job, and kept looking.  I was at that job for a month before leaving for a better one, only to leave the better one 8 months later for the BEST one.  I was never technically unemployed and each job helped me get to the next one.

Any job is better than no job.

@HotPinkFire: I think not listing them is a grey trending to black area – it can really get you in trouble.  On the other hand, employers don’t want to hear you’re leaving another in the lurch.  For me, I have a pro bono job that’s caused some confused so I had to change how I put it on my resume (and make it clear it was pro bono).  If you get the job, I would consider applying only for jobs you can do in addition to it for six months.
