I’m saying maybe on the “bridezilla” because I do think I’m 100% right in this situation… and while I didn’t yell at the man I might have dropped an f-bomb or two. Which I guess wasn’t the best thing ever… although I’m so angry right now I’m almost shaking so not yelling at him was about the best I could do.
My Fiance wanted a tungsten carbide ring. Over Christmas we found one we really liked online at tungstenworld.com. Nice website, seemingly good reviews online, good price, and 2nd day shipping. We were happy so we ordered a ring in size 9 with an inscription.
Ring #1 comes in. It fits perfectly but the inscription was wrong. I called the customer service line– they were super nice about it and apologized, gave me their fedex # so I could send it back for free and they said they’d fix it right away. I was very happy.
Ring #2 comes in. The inscription is right, yay! But its too big! It falls off my FI’s hand when he moves around. I call them and they say well either ring #1 or ring #2 was clearly the wrong size… they’re sorry… please go to a jewelry store to get sized so you’re sure you have the right size, and send it back with out fedex number and we’ll replace it for the correct size. We go to Jared (lol) and Fiance gets sized. 9. We also took in the ring they sent and it was a 9.5 They say you should sometimes order rings 1/2 size smaller if they’re comfort fit, so we decide that an 8.5 is probably the safest bet just to be sure. I call and the guy tells me no, if the ring is falling off of his finger it is way too big and he is SURE that an 8 is the right size. He has experience, trust him, etc. He says its no big deal if it doesn’t fit just send it back (again) and they’ll exchange for an 8.5 but he is SURE this is right. ok.
Ring #3 comes in. The inscription is right, yay! But it doesn’t fit over his knuckle. F’N A. I send it back.
Ring #4… I get an email on 2/4 saying the ring is shipping. It usually takes 2 days. I wait and wait. As of the next friday, 2/11… no ring. I call. They say oops… we’re backed up for valentines day so we never actually shipped it. I say look… I am getting married in 2 weeks I need the ring now. They say okay we’ll overnight it! You’ll see it tomorrow! Saturday comes and goes and no ring. I use the fedex tracking info they sent and it tells me the ring was delivered at 12:35pm on Saturday… to MONTANA. (I live in Ohio). WTF. I can’t call because their business hours are 9-5 pacific time, m-f. I send an email. No response.
I wait until 9am pacific time today and I call. They look at the records and confirm… yep… oops… the ring went to montana. We’re sorry. We’ll send you another one. (except he didn’t actually say he was sorry he was just so freaking non-chalant about it). It’ll be there tomorrow. This is when I lost it a little bit. I didn’t yell at all… but in a very shaky voice I told the man that this was now their 5th f up and if I didn’t have the ring by tomorrow I was canceling my order, ordering from somewhere else, and charging them the difference in price and extra fees for getting the next ring in time because I am getting married in 12 F’ING DAYS and my Fiance needs a G-D ring.
Post script: While I am typing this… fedex rolls up. And delivers the ring. The ring that they confirmed for me less than an hour ago was in montana. again I say… wtf.
I am thrilled that the ring is here and will (hopefully dear god) fit. But I’m still appalled at the way they practice business. I’m not sure anyone there knows their ass from their elbows… and its really disappointing because I’m a huge fan of ordering online. Both my ering and wedding band are from blue nile and we loved them! We would’ve ordered fi’s ring from there except that he wanted tungsten and blue nile doesn’t carry that.
sigh, oh well. I guess as little explosions go it could’ve been worse…. but i still never saw myself as someone who would be swearing at someone over my wedding. 🙁
