So, after all our deliberation we decided to order the dress. I measured myself according to the ‘how to measure’ page on DressilyMe and then I had FH measure me twice just to be sure. Then we placed the order. I was a bundle of nerves placing that order.
The next two weeks were a mixture of excitement and nerves and I checked my emails at least twice a day. I kept going back to look at the dress on the site. I couldn’t wait to have it.
Just 13 days after placing the order I got an email telling me my dress had been shipped! DressilyMe says that making the dress can take from 20-25 days so I was expecting to still be waiting for atleast another week. I was overjoyed and so excited to be getting my wedding dress.
After the initial, saying my dress had been shipped, I stalked the DHL tracker like a crazy lady. It went from Zhen Zhen to Hong Kong one day, the to Auckland the next and the next day it was in Christchurch. I figured if my package can get from China to NZ in one day then surely it could make the 3.5 hour trip from ChCh in one day but DHL doesn’t have an office in my town so they gave my package to another company to deliver and I didn’t get it till the next morning.
That was quite possibly the most stressful part of the whole thing, when DHL hand over the package to another company you get a message saying “Delivery arranged no details expected” I had no idea what that meant so I had to do some googling and it made me really nervous. I had no idea who had my dress or where it was (I assume NZ post). I was really dissapointed to find that my package had just been stuffed in my mailbox and I wasn’t asked to sign for it or anything, I know that my dress was inexpensive for a wedding dress but it is still quite a lot of money and I would have been seriously P.Od if someone had stolen it from my mailbox.
This morning I saw a big yellow package in my mailbox and I rushed out of the front door and grabbed it I ran around the house trying to find FH, baby under one arm and package under the other. FH was really excited and asked me to open it before he left for work.
It was incredibly well packaged, First, I tore through the DHL bag, then there was a plastic bag and then was the DressilyMe garment bag. My hands were shaking and I struggled to get the garment bag opened. Once I had the bag open I was really confused, the dress was inside out and at first I thought I had been sent the wrong dress. I wish I had taken pictures of this so you could see how it was packaged but I was too excited and FH was already late for work so I was in a hurry.
After turning the dress rightway out I was so happy, the dress was beautiful. My 3yo daughter was so excited. She told me it was a princess dress and wanted to wear it. FH loved it too. I shooed him out the door and hung the dress up so I could take a picture for you guys and get myself prettied up to try it on!!
My kids were having so much fun crawling under the dress and hiding under the train 🙂
