@Laurenplusalex:  Whoa, does that come with anything else?  That’s a solid down payment on a house.  Don’t stress lady, there are lots of more affordable venues out there!

@Laurenplusalex:  yupp! Fiance and I had some venues saved when we were dating, and when we looked into them they had an $11,000 catering minimum. NOPE

Ours is $215/pp and we’re having 150. We paid it off bit by bit and have actually overpaid (unintentionally), so they’ll be handing us a check at the wedding, which I guess is kind of nice…

Oh gosh, I hated looking at the price tags…I remember going through brochures one day when I was looking for venues and I saw a $30,000 food minimum. MINIMUM.  FOOD. WHAT THE HECK??

That’s probably more than I’ve spent on food…ever. I couldn’t do it.

I’d rather buy $30,000 worth of Chipotle and eat it all by myself.

@Laurenplusalex:  If you have Chipotle at the reception, I’ll be crashing your wedding.

@shesho:  We were just in line at Chipotle Tuesday night and I said we could just get married at the public library across the street and then hand everyone a $10 gift card to go to Chipotle and probably everyone would be just as happy as with the $150pp (turns into $200pp with 35% service and tax!) that I think we are going to end up with.

My other cheap dream is to take everyone to a Costco and hand each couple a $5 bill. Pretty sure you can get 2 hot dogs, 2 drinks, and 2 churros for $5. Total cost to feed everyone: $75

His whole family talking about how cheap and awful we are behind our backs for the rest of our lives: priceless
