I’m so glad I discovered this online store (which has 3 locations in Tennessee and Kentucky). They had great prices, the exact ring I wanted, and gave me a discount on the diamond. They’re return policy and upgrade policy are what made me go for the diamond without having seen it in person (or even a photo). I just went by the certification of the diamond – they have both GIA and EGL, mine was EGL.
So, this is actually a Gabriel & Co. ring which is branded as “Genesis Designs” on the website, yet it is the exact Gabriel one I wanted from their site. The rings do have Gabriel & Co engraved on the inside.
Anyway, here it is. Genesis Diamonds provides a nice mahogony box for each of the engagement ring and wedding band.
Stone specs:
Oval: 6.48 mm x 5.15 mm x 3.05 mm (l to w ratio – 1.25:1 – more of a chubby oval)
.71 carats
EGL Certified:
Color: H
Clarity: SI1
Symmetry: Good
Polish: Very Good
Flourescence: None
I really like how the band looks with the ring. I think the curve in the band adds a nice little interesting feature to it, so it’s not just a plain straight band, and it has the matching profile details. The curve also fits against the increasing size of the e-ring’s shank as it gets closer to the center diamond. When I was debating between getting a halo or not, I thought this band would be able to accomplish just as well what a halo could do (i.e. add the visual interest around the diamond – not make the diamond appear larger).
So, I am very happy with my purchase. I got a great deal and it looks great – just what I wanted. I wasn’t sure if I wanted a chubby diamond or a longer one, but this one fit my budget and I think it turned out great. Originally I was considering using a 5 x 7 asha diamond, which looks great and gets rid of the bowtie effect, and is significantly cheaper, but I opted to go for the actual diamond when I realized I could afford it. I don’t think the bowtie looks that bad despite the low depth %. It has a slight bowtie that is only visible sometimes, and it’s not a really dark or big one that shows a lot of contrast and ruins the ring. I think it adds character. This also sparkles a lot more than the Asha, and it has more depth/dimension to it. The Asha is pretty see-through and clear. The diamond is a little yellower than I would prefer, but it’s not bad. The EGL H that I got made me worry a bit after I found out it’s yellower than a GIA H. Overall, I’m super happy, and I think my fiance will be too.
