Our wedding is in November, but our venue is booked, our photographer is paid, our florist is scheduled, our STD’s are out, my dress is in alterations, most of my decor is purchased, a lot of the bridal party gifts are finished. I still have a lot to do though… the suit, the invitations, the dj, the menu selections, the transportation, the hotels, the hair and make-up, the honeymoon. I have very specific ideas, but all of that stuff can wait a while.

@vanbride:

Wow – I thought most dress shops wouldn’t alter dresses that far out!  Can I ask why the rush?

I guess considering I have cats – I’m VERY happy to have my dress sitting safely in the shop until the week before the wedding!

Whew. Consulted with and booked the florist today. Thats a big burden off my shoulder. Meeting with a caterer on Tuesday, so hopefully I can markanother big item off of my list. Also spent a lot of time today trying to find mercury glass votives.

We sent out our Save the Dates last Thursday. Now I’m working on getting our day of schedule down to the basics, cake tastings, and getting to the hotel to pick our tablecloths and food. Soon I hope to tackle a list of songs I want played at the wedding.

@mandypop: I only had to alter the hem and the bustle because the dress fit perfectly! David’s was having a deal that if you altered the day you picked up your dress then they would give you $50 off your alterations, so I had to take the deal! ๐Ÿ™‚

@Aure: I too have very nosy adventurous cats who like to claw and curl up on important items, and also a groom who tends to snoop inadvertantly! ๐Ÿ™‚ My mom is taking my dress for me! Good luck with your furbaby!

I also feel seriously behind!! We have booked our venue and church. We are still waiting for the list from his side of the family to finalize the guest list. I’m also on the fence on whether to invite co-workers or not. I have my eye on a photographer and DJ, but want to see what the other options are at a bridal show I’m going to this weekend. I hope to find a caterer at the show this weekend too. We are also house hunting during all of the planning, so things are a little busy. Oh, and we only have 1 day off together, so that makes coordinating meetings pretty hard. I am thinking eggplant, champagne and lilac for my colors. What do you guys think of those colors? I haven’t even considered going dress shopping because I’m procrastinating. I’m a size 14-16 and most sample sizes are smaller than that. I don’t want to go into the bridal shop to only be disappointed that there are no dresses for me to try on. I am working on a weight loss plan too….. So much to do!!!

@Aure: That’s a great idea! I hadn’t thought of that. I love eggplant and champagne, but I felt like I needed another color for my flowers since there aren’t many eggplant colored flowers. I’ll probably do an ivory flower with idk what yet. It will mostly be champagne and eggplant, but thought I needed a pop of color here and there. I would love pink, but i don’t really think it’s a fall color. What are your colors?

@Jamieg: I am a size 12/14 and I had serious anxiety about going shopping for a dress. I was engaged for over a year before I could step into a salon. But if you go to David’s Bridal, they carry all sizes, and if you love a dress that is not in your size, they can find one close and they’ll just get you in it anyways! Don’t be afraid!!! It was so much less painful than I had expected it to be!

Looking over this post made me realize how much I have left to do! We have our venue, photog, and cake covered.. Our engagement session is the 26th of this month so after that we can send out the STDs. (We’re doing magnets) We have a tasting this week to finalize the menu. I still haven’t gone dress shopping, nor have the girls. A few of them are in a friend’s wedding next month so I know money is tight and i’m not going to be too pushy about that. I kind of have dress anxiety because I wanted to be lighter weight wise before I went.. I also don’t want to wait too long though! Ugh. I need to finish up our website and confirm a hotel block as well before the STDs go out. I started school full time this semester so wedding stuff kind of got pushed aside. I’ll be at it full force after this first week is over though.. I can’t believe we will be married at the end of this year!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Hallejuah!
