Title says it all. Wedding is over, I’m married, and I have no occasion to wear my gown anymore . Le sigh. FedEx just delivered the box from the cleaners that I’m supposed to pack my gown into to have shipped off for cleaning and preservation. I’m going to miss her! So I’m just lounging around being silly one last time before she gets all packed away. Also, kitty is happy that she’s FINALLY allowed on my dress (I had to reprimand her to stay off my dress in the weeks leading up to the wedding…when I tried on my dress *a lot*).
If you’re not planning to resell your gown, what are your post-wedding plans? Preservation? Trash the dress photo shoot (sooo tempting – maybe in another year as a fun anniversary thing)? Just stick the dirty dress in the back of your closet and forget about it?

pretty dress and kitty!! Mine is just hanging in the closet. I’ll probably just leave it there forever, lol.

- Wedding: April 2017 - City, State
My dress has been sitting in its garment bag since my wedding in April. I was going to sell it. Then I wasn’t sure. Then I was gonna cut it up into a different dress. Then I wasn’t sure. So currently I’ve done nothing with it.

haha love this!
Mine will just be cleaned and boxed away. When I have kids, I’m sure it’ll come out for them to see and play in like my mum’s did for me!

One of my favorite episodes. I plan to preserve it. I doubt either of my girls will want it, but it will be there. Even if they do not want it for their wedding, maybe one of them will want it for prom, or if they continue to do pageants.

sounds like my sister – a year and a half later, and it’s still hanging dirty in the garment bag at my parent’s house, lol
bahahaha i understand the indecision. is it too big to just stick in a front loading washer to at least get it cleaned a bit?

we’re CFBC, so not keeping it around for any kids. i’m just too sentimental to give it away/sell it! my sister does have her first on the way, though, so maybe i’ll have a little niece soon who might want to see it someday.

It’s been sitting in its garment bag since the wedding about 1.5 weeks ago. I plan to have it preserved and then maybe wear it on an anniversary? Or something? Not sure. Hopefully our future child is interested in wearing it 🙂

That’s so cute! I would definitely be doing the same exact thing! I plan on donating my dress after my wedding to a program that gives dresses free to underprivileged women. Then my dress can have a second life and a woman who may have otherwise not had a beautiful dress gets to feel like a princess. Spread the love

I’m not married yet but I get all dressed up in my wedding outfit pretty much whenever Fiance isn’t around lol

I vote for more pics with kitty! Kind of a “Beauty and the Beast” theme? Book deal!

oh i put on my dress ALL the time before the wedding when Fiance wasn’t around. I got it back from the seamstress 2 weeks before the wedding and probably averaged putting it on every other day. sometimes to make sure it sill fit, sometimes to make sure i still thought it was pretty, and sometimes to just tell myself in the midst of the final week of stress that i was getting married and that was all that mattered.

Donating mine… Love it but have no use for it after wedding

i love the idea of donating it, but i’m way too sentimental. seriously, i still have ALL my prom/formal dresses from high school…like maybe 15 or 20 formal dresses. i still can’t seem to let them go

mine is preserved in a box. if i don’t have a daughter, i will rethink what i am going to do with it.
but for now, it will stay in it’s box. if i do have a daughter. i will either give it to her to play dress up with or hold on to it to see if she wants to use it for a wedding dress or repurpose it.
when i was struggling finding a senior prom dress, my mom offered me her wedding dress to dye whatever color i wanted. i had worn it for dress up before along with a bridesmaid dress my mom had. it’s fun.

I dont have a dress yet lol but depending on the dress I am either going to frame it in a shadow box or frame the whole thing like this:
Or if i get a less traditional wedding dress i will just dye it and wear it to other fancy events.
