LyndaButterfly:  Chances are you will be fine. That baby is well protected and cushioned in the amniotic fluid.

Watch for any symptoms and see the doctor if you are concerned.

Babys are so so so protected in there!!! I’m sure you’ll be okay. Just keep an eye on things!

LyndaButterfly:  I’d be more worried about hitting your head. Your baby is nestled in amniomic fluid, protected by organs, membranes, and muscles. It takes a lot to impact. You would need a very hard, long fall. You will be fine!

Ouch. I’m sure the baby will be fine. I would call your doctor to get advice on what to look for and what do, and not to do,  if the pain gets worse. I would also document the incident in writing with the manager of the store, as a precaution, and so they will be a lot more careful in the future.

When I was 8 1/2 months pregnant I totally bit it. I tripped on a crack in the sidewalk outside our house at night. I went flying and tried to protect my belly as well as I could in that split second and landed sort of on my side, but definitely on my belly too. My one pair of expensive maternity jeans tore at the knees and I was bleeding all over. We went to the ER and everything was totally fine! I’m sure it’s fine! Ugh there are so many things to worry yourself over when you’re pregnant aren’t there?

I fell down the stairs at 8 weeks and all was good. As long as you have no bleeding you should be just fine. Babe is small and well cushioned! 🙂

LyndaButterfly:  Could you put a hot water bottle under your back tonight? Not too hot, just to soothe any aches..

My friend fell on ice while pregnant too. Her happy, healthy child is 5 years old now. I’m sure it’s scary, but chances are good that baby is doing just fine 🙂

I hit a bunch of bad potholes while driving in early pregnancy and had similar freak out moments.  As everyone said, you’re perfectly fine.  I think falls are more dangerous in later pregnancy because the placenta can detach (abruption).

I’m sorry you fell, but babies are so, so snuggled in, insulated, and protected at this stage. Call your doctor if you’re really worried. My 140lb dog fell right on my stomach when she was trying awkwardly to climb into bed when I was around 30 weeks, and my doctor wasn’t even worried about it then.
