Happy New Year Everyone! I just got engaged on Christmas Day to my best friend. I am very excited, but need a little advice. I want to have my weding in October 2012. I started looking at venues, and will have one picked by the end of the week. Some peopel keep telling me that I won’t be able to pull off a wedding in 10 months. I think there crazy. I am a pretty good planner and decision maker, and I previously worked in the resturant industry, so have a good amount of connections (DJ, florist, cake, and photographer). I just want some other openions. How long has planning taked everyone else? Will it be to overwheleming to have have my wedding in October?
PS. I have some good ideas in mind, but I am open to any fall wedding suggestions!

I think 10 months is plenty of time, especially if you have connections. Why don’t you look up a wedding timeline/checklist from a bridal magazine or website? That will give you an idea of what you need to do month-by-month leading up to the wedding.

Happy New Year and Congratulations!! I saw your post and wanted to respond.
I was married on 9-23-11 and my day went off without a hitch ( except for a little rain). I had a little morentime than younto plan but no matter what, as long as you are organized you can definitely pull it off. Many people get stressed with the planning because , in my opinion, they are unorganized and wait until the last minute.
Get a list of vendors together that you might want to have and start emailing or calling for availability ASAP. My vendors were awesome and they were very friendly too. Also, try searching on etsy.com for wedding ideas. I bought many of my wedding things on Etsy.com (programs, invitations, bridal party gifts, jewelry, etc) and everyone raved on the originality. The Vendors on Etsy.com are so friendly and many of the ship quickly.

You will be fine in 10 months, especially if you practically have a venue already. I think your engagement will be a nice length, and it won’t be too hectic to plan. You need to make sure the big things are set now (photographer, venue, caterer, florist etc.) but then you will have downtime before making final decisions about a lot of things anyway. Best wishes to you! 🙂

I wassnagged for nine montherot the day so it’s definitely doable I like you say you’re organized and a good decision maker. Also you may not have your first pick of vendors so if you have your heart set on anybody contact theM immediately to determine availability. From here you’ll know I you can have what you want in October. Happy planning!

@Kubatpark12: Congrats! I think 10 months will be enough time! I think I could have planned my entire wedding in a couple of weeks if I wasn’t working full time and in grad school. Set goals for your self to pace the planning. Book the venues, photographer, and entertainment first, as those will be the first things to fill up. I know the church and reception venue I’m using books up a year in advance. Things like the florist and bakery can be decided on later ( 4 months before the wedding). Just spend some time getting quotes and when you’re ready to decide compare all the quptes you’ve collected. Congrats again and happy planning!!

Congrats on the engagement. We are getting married one day apart…wohooo. I definately think you can plan your wedding in 10 months. I had my wedding planned out in my head since 2 years ago. The only reason I am getting married in 14 months is because we needed to save some $! Us girls are very focus and believe we can do anything we put our minds to.

Congrats on your engagement! 10 months is plenty of time to plan your dream wedding! My Darling Husband and I were only engaged 5 months and there was nothing i would of done differently if i had a longer engagement. We were married on a Friday so we had our pick on our vendors. If you want a Saturday vendors are busier so start getting quotes! Things were a bit hectic but nothing i couldnt handle and im sure you will handle it as well! As long as your organized everything will be fine. Book your venue, officiant,dj , photographer and order your dress!! Everything else will fall into place for you! We are all here if you have any questions! Congrats again and Happy Planning! : )
