Hello bees! I just joined today and I’d like to ask for your help in narrowing down e-rings. My boyfriend and I have just started looking and are a bit overwhelmed by our options!
In general, we are looking for something that is:
1) Very unique!
2) Has the “Wow!” factor — lots of sparkle and shine
3) Can be matched nicely with a band (ideally with a band on each side, as I love that style)
4) Will go with a round brilliant stone
5) Incorporates some type of halo
Although we haven’t decided yet whether we will go with designer vs. custom, we have been looking at designer rings for inspiration. These are our five favorites for the time being….
What do you think?!
#1: Simon G “twist” (probably would get it in all white gold)
#2: Simon G split shank (would get it in all white gold)
#3: Simon G “swirl” — Love this ring, but can’t think of a band that would go well with it (asked Simon G and apparently they’ve never made a band for it before)
#4: Kirk Kara — LOVE the “figure 8” pattern here
#5: Tiffany’s Schlumberger (probably would get a custom ring inspired by this, since we don’t want the diamonds to go all the way around the band and also could knock a lot off the price by going custom)
So given what we are looking for (unique and flashy), which one should we choose???
IMO #1 and #2 are not very unique. Not a fan of #4. So is choose eaither 3 or 5. to make it easy though, I choose 5 because it probably has a band to go with it. But I really do like #3 better.

I really like the swirl but then it all comes down to personal taste.

Oh wow! They’re all beautiful except the Tiffany In My Humble Opinion – it’s just not my taste, personally. Tough choices, I love 1, 2, and 4 but I’m leaning towards the Kirk Kara!

I love the 5th one (the Tiffany), per your requirements I think the Tiffany is the way to go (well, a custom version since you want a few modifications). I love how different-looking it is and I think it would be amazing with two bands!

I differently like #3 and would have chosen it myself if we found it when we looked back in July because I have uniqueness.
i can only see #2 matching nicely with a band. the others will probably need custom bands.
as for unique and flashy, i like the last one for that.

@MissKittyKat: I think 4 is very interesting but wonder if the figure 8 will make a gap with the bands. Love Simon G but don’t like 3 at all!

To be honest, all of these rings a bit too chunky for my taste and not all of them are really “unique” and I don’t think most of those would go well with 2 bands, either – too much going on. I would personally do a round brilliant center with a very thin halo and shared prong band.. and then you can add the two bands after. Something similar to this:
Another bee has a similar ring with a moissy center stone and it’s STUNNING.. Her username is MrsSkelentonKey and she posted a pic of it in this thread: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/to-all-you-trouble-makers-out-there#axzz2hf1yaC5z
But, that’s just my personal taste, not sure it matches yours!

I think the Tiffany is the way to go. It is the only truly “unique” ring out of your choices.
I think the poll results are skewed because many bee’s probably LIKE choices 1-4 precisely because they are not very unique. While beautiful, they are generic looking to me.
#5 is a love-it or hate-it ring, very sparkly, very out there. Many people won’t “get it”, but it is the most flashy unique one. The others I have seen a million times before.

As previous posters have pointed out, although I much prefer #2 to any of the others and think if would go best with 2 bands, I don’t think it fits your criteria of unique. Out of the choices, I thinkonly numbers 3 and 5 are unique, but not a fan of 3 at all. So I guess I should vote for 5, but it’s going to end up really chunky with 2 bands, which is fine if that’s what you’re wanting. Otherwise I would say keep looking.

I think it’s good that you’re considering how bands will look with it, and the most unique (#3,#4,#5) may be tricky to find bands for. If you like the look of a curved band, or a gap between e-ring and band, you may be ok. But if you want a flush fit I can’t see that working for #3 or #5. Maybe it would for #4, but it’s hard to tell from the pictures.

BEAUTIFUL RINGS! I love Simon G and am now the proud owner of one! I have tried on the first option before and the stock photos do NOT do that ring justice! It is even MORE gorgeous in person! My vote is for number 1!

@MissKittyKat: I like #3… And you can custom make a band for it!
