Hi! When I began venue searching online I looked at the Lake House Inn as well – it does look pretty! Our non-negotiables were outdoor space, a natural setting and space for about 150 people in PA. The third venue we visited was the John J. Audubon Center at Mill Grove, about 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia just past the Valley Forge Casino. I walked into the old white-washed stone barn and my eyes teared up. This space is so gorgeous – there are acres and acres of hiking trails, it’s a nature conservatory and historical site (John Audubon’s original home is now a museum and creates a very attractive backdrop on the land) plus it has indoor and outdoor options for ceremony/cocktail hour/dinner/party. We’re getting married there this summer and we visited in September — it’s beautiful then as well! I seriously recommend visiting. Oh, and there are hotels within a 5 minute drive of the venue; we blocked out rooms at a Homewood Suites.

Best of luck with planning!

circlequeen2:  It was recommended to us, by my daughter’s Future Mother-In-Law, as a must-see venue, but we didn’t contact the LHI. (The bride preferred a historic hotel, with an ornate ballroom). I had a friend who looked into it and said it was definitely too expensive, for their budget. Possibly an non-Saturday evening wouldn’t be as costly? My daughter’s good friend was a bridesmaid in a wedding at the LHI and the bridal party stayed at the Inn, for the weekend. The ceremony was to take place outside, but because of rain, was held on the dance floor of the ballroom, instead. I’d recommend looking at http://partyspace.com/philadelphia.
