I haven’t spent Thanksgiving with SO alone, but we did spend Christmas with just the two of us last year and it was amazing.

We made all of our favorite foods and stayed in our (matching) jammies all morning and had lots of sexual relations and snuggled all day.

I was pregnant and very ill our first holidays together so we did hardly anything. This year I’m cooking and we are definitely staying home. My husband and I are huge homebodies anyway so we love this. Probably going to eat as many mashed potatos as we can fit into our stomachs and cuddle with our cat and baby lol. Maybe watch some movies together too.

300bride :  If you’re worried about it being too lonely, have Friendsgiving on Friday! You can heat up whatever you and your hubby make on Thursday and invite some folks over.

300bride :  I’m jealous, honestly I’d love to just spend Thanksgiving with my husband and our pups. In my head I imagine us drinking coffee with baileys, cooking tons of food without having to worry about what other people like, and lounging around watching movies, then having a lovely dinner with a nice bottle of wine.

before i met my husband it was just my mom, brother, and me.  we started going to NY to see the thanksgiving day parade.  we’ve seen it in every kind of weather.

then one year hotel prices skyrocketed.  we decided, it was just the 3 of us, we can go anywhere.  so we started traveling.  we pick a city or 2 neaby cities and explore them.  when i met my husband, he joined us, and now our 2 kids.  so i have the opposite of you as expanding our thanksgiving. but i think you could maybe find a little airbnb or something cozy for the weekend.

Thanksgiving in canada doesn’t seem nearly as big a thing as the US. So most thanksgivings I’ve spent with just my husband. We’re just excited for a long weekend!

Our favourite thing to do when we have weekends off together (which is almost never) is to do a movie marathon lol. You can download a few, watch one while things are cooking, watch another while eating, clean up and watch another. We don’t have specific “thanksgiving foods” but when we’re off together we usually make a much more elaborate meal. I like to make braised meats (lamb shank, osso buco, short ribs) and he likes to make wellington. Those are our special occasion foods so thats probably our fall back. Sometimes it’s also nice to be able to order delivery and not have to lift a finger either. No clean up too!

300bride :  I think that’s an awesome idea honestly. My dad loves doing that so that’s what he does on Thanksgiving too. I was planning on putting up our tree this sunday though because I will be a lump on the couch from all the mashed potatos on Thanksgiving day lmao!

Canadian chiming in here – we sometimes have my brother and soon to be SIL over for Thanksgiving, but sometimes it’s just the two of us and honestly, that’s just as nice.

We basically just enjoy having a long weekend and I take the time to cook a nice meal. My go-to if it’s just the two of us isto do a full chicken in the crockpot on a bed of potatoes and some roasted root vegetables / squash on the side.  Deeeeeelicious!

We aren’t overly sentimental people and Thanksgiving isn’t a huge thing for us, so we don’t really go out of our way to treat it much differently than any other long weekend. But if you want to make it particularly special, maybe you guys can write notes/cards to each other listing off the things you are grateful for in each other and in your marriage so far? That would be kind of sweet ๐Ÿ™‚
