Three cheers for that!! It’s only a number, I wear a size 6 normally and I had to order a 10 wedding dress to fit my bust width. everything else will need to be taken in.  I just figure it is what is is:) I’d rather go larger than be stuck if it’s too small! ya know ?

Yep, I am a UK size 10 (which I think is an American 6) and I had to order a size 14 (US 10) wedding dress.  Fitted me perfectly.  I completely get what you’re saying.

I hear ya!! I wear a 6 in pants and about an 8 in dresses (stupid wide ribs) and ordered a 14!! I could have gotten away with a 12 but I waited too long and couldn’t change it.

yea it can definitely mess with your head.  the sizing almost always runs smaller than street sizes anyway.  and on top of that, they order the size for your largest measurement and take everything in during alterations.  rip the tag off and don’t think about it again ^_^

I wear size 22/24 pants (depending on brand) and my dress was an 18. I’m bottom heavy and had a ballgown dress. my big ass didn’t matter lol.

Yep, they’re all over the map.  I’m typically a street size 12, and tried on one wedding dress sample in a size 28 that I tried to pull up, and it wouldn’t go over my hips, so we put it over my head, and the consultant still couldn’t do it up in the back.  It was ridiculous.

I thought I was going to be a big wedding size (I’m a street 4/6). and they kept giving me smaller dresses. My dress is actually a little smaller than my dress size! I usually wear a 6, and it’s a 4! Maybe the cheaper dresses are a more flattering size?

I wear a street size 2/4 and my dress is an 8. I have no idea why they make the sizes so weird!

This is the first thread I’ve heard of girls saying they had to buy smaller sizes!  I thought I was alone!  I’m typically a 12 and a size 10 in Sottero and Midgley!

I’m a UK 8/10 but had to order a UK12 as my hips are larger. These bridal dress designers really know how to make a girl feel good 😉

I am a size 16 and ordered a size 16, David’s Bridal dresses seem true to size, because every dress I tried on in 16 fit no matter the maker.

I wear a 2 in skirts, a 4 in suits, jackets, and trousers, a 6 in jeans and shirts, and an 8 in my wedding dress. Actually, I’ve worn anything from a 0 to a 10 depending on brand, cut, and garment type. And I’ve also been called both “curvy” and “skinny” depending on what I’m wearing and how it makes me look. Numbers don’t matter–it’s fit!

@lolaswann:  +1!! Agree, rip the tag and forget about it. It’s size ‘YOU’. Forget the number!

I wear a size 16 and my dress is a size 22. Has to be taken in quite a bit at the sides and bust though.
