So I have never been the girl that was excited about getting married. Not sure why my parents are still together and have a good relationship. So when my boyfriend of 4 years asked me to marry him I decided to plan a wedding. He knows how I feel about marriage. When he popped the question his words were, ” I know you don’t believe in marriage but I know you believe in us.” So I decided an old fashioned wedding wasn’t for me. Walking down the aisle freaks me out. So I’m surprising my fiancé with a wedding on the Brooklyn bridge afterwards a nice lunch with immediate family. He has no clue.
My issue-it’s an afternoon wedding so I don’t feel an extreme, sexy, extravagant wedding gown is appropriate. Even though that is my style.
I bought a tea length gown that I like. It goes with our fun theme but not my personality.
i don’t feel sexy and I had no emotional reaction When buying it.
Im worried I will look back and be disappointed at the route I chose.
I am happy about the easy ceremony just want to be a show stopper.
thanks for listening (or reading)

If you’re not being traditional about the rest of the event, why worry about choosing an “appropriate” dress? Wear something awesome and dramatic that you love!

Get the dress you dream about! I know you will be drop-dead gorgeous!

+1 for continuing your dress search if a return is possible. I’ve seen a lot of tea-length dresses that popped. Otherwise, glad you got this off your chest!

Make the dress as dramatic as you like – it honestly doesn’t matter if it’s “appropriate” or not. My wedding is going to be relatively small and laid back, and my dress is this huge lacey confection. I was dress shopping with my grandmother, and she told me that it doesn’t matter if I feel ridiculous or not – it’s my only opportunity to wear something gorgeously extravagant, and I should pick something I love even if I feel a little silly.
So go for it! And then post pictures, obviously 🙂

Okay Ladies I bought a different dress. It was a long dress that I cut short. Here are some pictures of before and afters. The dress is not complete the lace isn’t sewn on the bottom yet. I also added pink tulle underneath my dress so it looks ombre at the bottom because you can see the pink.

Just out of curiosity, which shoes did you pick? Or are you wearing mismatching shoes?
