My manager is BFFS with one of my co-workers. I’m not jealous that they are friends but I don’t think it’s right because my co-worker reports to this manager just like I do. Everyone notices that she gets special treatment from our manager – for example, if she has to leave an hour early she doesn’t need to put it in as PTO but can make up the time – others have to put it in as PTO – I only know this example because I sit right by this co-worker so I hear her and my manager chatting all the time about such things as this. She was also recently promoted, now I hate to say it but me plus a few others think that they only reason she was promoted was because of the friendship she has with our manager.
Obviously this is a case of favoratism – my question is – do I just sit back and watch it all as I have been for the last 4 years? or do I bring this up to higher management, perhaps my managers boss? I even considered writing an anonymous letter. Also they are currently planning a trip to Hawaii together – I mean? IDK.
