I’ve been toying around with various at-home facial options and after some trial and error over the past few months, I’ve come up with a quick, easy and natural (I’m obsessed with natural products and love making my own stuff) 8-step at-home facial that anybody can do with products already in their kitchen or bathroom. My girls and I will be doing this as part of our pre-wedding day-of-beauty and because it’s so easy, detailed and requires no extractions, derm-abrasion or chemicals, my makeup artist has agreed to do it at no extra charge! See below:
8-Step Organic Facial Treatment (30 minutes)
Chamomile tea bags
Coconut or olive oil
Fine granulated sugar
Face towels or washcloths
Large microwaveable bowl
Black soap or other mild face wash
Prep: Steep chamomile tea bags and remove bags from water. Allow tea to cool. Make a paste of sugar and oil and another paste of baking soda and chamomile tea. Soak face towels in soft water and microwave for 5 minutes. Gather remaining materials.
Step 1: cleanse face and do not dry
Step 2: exfoliate with a scrub made of sugar and oil (for deep pore cleansing) or baking soda and chamomile tea (for polishing).
Step 3: rinse off exfoliator. Place tea bags on client’s closed eye lids, then cover client’s face with hot towel. Leave towel in place until it returns to room temperature (about 5 minutes). Repeat this step with another hot towel, if desired.
Step 4: using a small amount of soap, cleanse freshly opened pores and pat face dry
Step 5: apply a thick, even layer of clay mask and allow to dry completely (about 15 minutes), being sure not to “break” the mask. May treat under eye area with cucumber crescents, if desired.
Step 6: remove mask, first by moistening with a wet towel then using the towel to wipe off remaining product. Rinse thoroughly with water.
Step 7: Use a cotton ball to tone face using chamomile tea or other natural toner
Step 8: Moisturize immediately using water based moisturizer (if daytime) or oil based moisturizer (if night time)
