I’ve posted here about having nasolabial folds (smile lines) around my mouth before and I’m really close to taking the plunge and trying a juverderm filler.
I’m only 28 and have no other lines in my face but these drive me nuts, my makeup creases in them and I’ve tried so many other lotions, creams, etc.
Has anyone tried Dermal fillers in their face for these lines, or something similar before? was it worth it? Did you have much bruising or swelling afterwards?
Just wanted to do a last ditch effort and consult the bee. thanks!! ; )

Yes, to the brusing and swelling. Luckily, I’m retired, because I wouldn’t have wanted to go out, for a few days. As a diabetic and redhead, I do bruise easily. I had it done in the lines around my mouth and it looked like someone punched me in the jaw.
It was quite expensive. They use some type of anesthetic paste on your skin, and my lips went numb, but I swear it didn’t effect my skin at all- it hurt like heck. I first had it done around age 56 and will probably never had it done again; the lasts time was the worst.
Are you sure they aren’t completely normal lines, or the effects could be lessened with specialty skin products?

A friend of mine is a nurse and had a clinic doing things like this. She says for the issue you describe having filler in your cheeks to lift them and can take away the folds you describe and stops the puffy look you sometime see when fillers have been used in folds instead.
Ive had fillers in my lips twice. One was painful and I had a bad reaction and then filler hardly lasted. The second time done by someone else it was amazing and I love it.
I think the key is getting the right person to do things like this not just someone who’ll inject and fill. Someone who understands the finer points of the art.

I’ve had dermal fillers. It was an instant, but subtle result. They lasted maybe 9months?? At over 500 dollars a syringe (I had 3), it found it to be expensive for what I got out of it. If I had money to burn I’d definitely keep doing it though. The discomfort was very minimal and only slight bruising at one of the injection sites.

Yes, I’ve has Restylane and loved it. No swelling, bruising or lumps. It lasted about two years.
The most important thing for me is to go to a board certified plastic surgeon and have the injections done only by the doctor.

that sounds pretty bad! I’ve tried a lot of different things and I’m just really self conscious. Here’s a pic for reference.
