Gee, this one really helps everyone.

Incidentally, my favorite part of it was: “bill sponsor State Rep. Melody McCray-Miller, D-Wichita, said the mother would not have to undergo DNA testing.”

Naw, really?

I posted a comment about how irrational this whole idea is. I mean, what about rape victims? And women who conceive from one night stands? Women with multiple partners, who don’t care to know which is the father? Or those who genuinely wish to just be single mothers? Date rape seems like a worst case scenario, because who wants a man like that in their or their child’s lives? Women fleeing domestic abuse? Those who have husbands that are sterile, and need to use artificial insemination, and don’t want that known to the public? This is a huge can of worms. I wish politicians would use their brains sometimes and truly think through all the scenarios of what they would encounter. If those men don’t have enough balls to request paternity testing when it’s in question, then they have no reason being fathers anyway. This is completely absurd. One commenter put it best. “Why use a shotgun when a rifle will do?” It seems much better to require testing only when a man can produce reasonable claims that paternity is in question. End of story.

UGHHHH, this is the kind of shit that makes me horribly ashamed to be from Kansas.
