My Fiance and his dad want to have karaoke at the reception. Im totally against this!!!!! Expesially since after the reception we are going to a club/casino (that has a karaoke bar) at the hotel we are staying in with the younger crowd. My Fiance is a musicain and i love to hear him sing but thats it, his dad is, sorry to say, is awful!!! and my family doesnt do karaoke, so it would only be my Fiance, Father-In-Law and his old man friends!!! HELP, should i just let it go, since they gave me final word on everything else or put my foot down? OMG i sound so mean 🙁 Oh and my Father-In-Law is paying for the DJ/Karaoke guy….

I think you should just let it go. Watching people embarass themselves is funny and you would be surprised after a couple of drinks who will be going up to karaoke.
Personally, I am not a fan of it but if he is paying for it I would just let it go and enjoy the hilariousness that will come from it.
With weddings I am realizing you have to pick and choose your battles. I think this is something not worth battling over.

I hate karaoke and i can totally understand why you don’t want to have it at the reception. You could mention that it is an unnecessary expense since there will be karaoke at the casino and the money could better be used to splurge on something else instead, something else they both love ( and you agree with)

I’ve never seen karaoke at a wedding reception. That would be interesting, but nstyot my style. I would just tell them that y’all will be doing karaoke later that night. But you want something different for the reception.

That’s a toughie. Maybe you can compromise and have a karaoke party after the rehearsal dinner (not sure what you’re planning for yours, but around here they turn into a 50%-75% party).
So maybe they’ll be satisfied to get their sing on, but it’s not going to be in front of of all the guests, only the family who have to love them ’cause they’re related 😉
