I’m not sure if anyone’s posted about this yet, but with all the hype surrounding the royal pregnancy I though you bees would be interested in this! Basically, DJs of an Australian radio station prank called Kate’s hospital pretending to be the queen and were actually connected through to Kate’s nurse and were told confidential information! Poor girl. Heres a link with the audio clip:

I thought it was really really low. The poor girl is very ill and it isn’t “just” morning sickness, she isn’t just in hospital because or her status. Her privacy is already invaded with the world knowing she is pregnant this early on. I really feel for her. It was a horrible prank and not at all funny.

Ugh how horrible. I wonder if the person who disclosed the info will lose their job for breaching patient confidentiality. Not fair.

This was a very disrespectful and tasteless thing to do.

That is disgusting and I can only imagine who the DJ hosts are (and I’m not going to listen to the clip) poor Kate having to be harrassed like that.

Oh no! Not funny. I wish everyone would leave her alone. Being pregnant is such a special time, she doesn’t deserve all this intrusion on top of being very ill already. Ugh.

@WannaBeeMrsB: I’m Australian. And I’m mortified. I know that us Aussies are known for liking to have a laugh, but this is disgusting. It’s not funny. And it has put everyone – not just Kate – under more stress.
And then Australians bitch about why we’re not taken as seriously as we’d like.

She’s be discharged! And is “feeling much better”. She looked lovely as she left the hospital.
ETA: regarding the prank, I couldn’t listen to it. I was mortified by the whole thing!

@shadesofviolet: I can’t imagine that anyone would think this was funny/a good idea/etc., but then again, radio personalities tend to be douchey idiots. We have lots of those in the US (which is why I don’t listen to the radio).
Poor Kate. I’m sure Will is just livid–he hates the media and this is an absolute violation. 🙁

“prank call to hospital” says it all.

I saw it on ninemsn this morning, I am disgusted, I couldn’t listen to the tape.

I didn’t listen to it, I’m Australian and I am in two minds about it, it’s pretty bad but I don’t think for one second that they thought they would get through… I heard a little bit of it on the news and their accents were just terrible, I can’t believe the nurse told them stuff.
I think it’s mainly the nurse’s fault, as if you would just believe that you are talking to the queen and Prince Charles…

Aren’t there rules/laws in England about not releasing patients’ private info?

@Jijitattoo: Yes, they are reviewing their telephone policies at that hospital now, they should have never put the callers through.
