I feel sorry for her when it comes to the overanalyzing every little thing to see if she’s pregnant.
I am surprised she toasted with water though. I’ve heard it’s something you shouldn’t do. I don’t remember where it came from, and I know some consider it to be bad luck, I’m not sure if it was also a breach of etiquette as well though. A toast doesn’t need to be done with wine, but juice or punch or another beverage can be used.
What are your thoughts about toasting with water?
If you were Kate would you have done it?

Bad luck to toast with water but maybe that’s all she had within reach.

Are you talking about Kate Middleton?

Wasn’t her pregnancy confirmed already?

OMG, all I have to say is – poor girl. Who cares what she used to toast with?? Maybe she doesn’t like wine and so she doesn’t drink it – doesn’t mean she’s pregnant! Eesh.
What if she has problems conceiving? Poor girl is going to be under so much stress/pressure to conceive. I hope that she can for her own sake.
And just b/c they’re married, doesn’t mean they need to pop out babies already!

I don’t think it’s confirmed, but a quick google search shows that it’s widely speculated after the water toast!

I feel so removed from public knowledge.

@Mrs. Fireworks: Yes, sorry, I thought I had including that in the OP.

@beachbride1216: I was wondering that too. If she can’t drink (for whatever reason, maybe she’s just on a medication right now!) I would have requested something that looked similar to the wine, if possible.

I don’t think there’s anything rude about toasting with water. I’ve certainly never heard that before, and a quick google doesn’t turn up any actual etiquette sources that support it; several even suggest it as an alternative to alcohol. I think people just prefer to use “nicer” beverages, usually something sparkling, for the look of it.
Also, if I were Kate, I’d have done it deliberately just to mess with the internet’s head. 😀

I had no idea you weren’t “supposed” to toast with water. I’ve done it a million times, usually because the toasts get rushed and there was no time to get a drink before.

I wasn’t familiar with toasting with water being a faux pas.
If I were Kate, I’d probably drink something other than water but I don’t think it’s a big deal.

Maybe she likes teasing the press. If I was in that position, I would do everything I could to have a little fun with the people overanalyzing everything I did. 🙂

I’ve never heard that one shouldn’t toast with water.
I honestly feel bad for Kate. It would suck to have every move you make analyzed about if you are pregnant or not yet. I really hope they don’t have any difficulties once they do decide to have kids.

I always toast with water. I don’t drink alcohol.
Kate is much stronger than I am. Don’t think I could live with photographers and the media tracking my every move
