We were considering Kauai and were told that a definite must is to vist the pool at Hanalei Bay Resort Hotel (it was where we had planned to stay). If you aren’t staying there you can “sneak” into the pool area by pretending you belong (DON’T bring your own towel, that is how they spot you).
If you want to Kayak visit the Kayak Kauai Outbound website. And for a lower priced rental check out the house rentals at Hanalei Bay Resort. They have some great deals if you are staying a week.

Oohhh we were just in Kauai in September. We stayed in Lihue at the Marriott resort. It was a GREAT GREAT resort, with an amazing pool and restaurants all around! It was only a short drive to the Luau and Walmart 🙂 I DEFINITELY recommend going to Walmart to pick up stuff that you need! Also there is a little hamburger joint by the marriott called the Beach Hut which was cheap and amazing burgers for lunch. We drove up to Waimea Canyon Lookout and it was amazing. We didn’t have enough time or else we would have done the first 2 miles of the kalalau trail (you need a permit to do the entire trail). I totally recommend a helicopter ride too. It was soooo beautiful and a great way to see the entire island. Happy planning! PM me if you want any more advice 🙂

The inter-island flights are all about the same price from Honolulu – $75 to $85 depending on the airline.
I HIGHLY recommend the Grand Hyatt – it is beautiful, great restaurants, and water slide :). My family has been travelling to the Hawaiian islands for years, and this is the favorite of all resorts.
I would recommend looking at Kayak.com for airfare – set an alert for the days you are travelling and they will email you the best fares each day.
Also – ziplining is great!
