I have this same concern since we are being married in a catholic church. I am not going to put the garter too far up my leg first of all! I will probably lift the dress myself making sure not to show too much.  and allow him to take it off. We were thinking of getting him to then put the garter onto a football and throw it to the groomsmen to take the attention off me and my dress/legs.. haha. And put the attention onto the guys! They will definitely dive for a football more quickly than a garter!

We have found garters with our local football team so that will be fun  🙂  And I will have a special pink lacey one for me to keep.

I am not sure how the reaching stick would come off to people. Seems stranger to have him putting a stick up your dress… this may give people a worse idea!! Just saying.. Might be better to just be careful not to let him lift the dress too much. And use hands instead of teeth. I have seen people do it trashy and slow, even change into a short dress and sit on the best man’s lap! Just maybe do it quick.. haha.

We wanted to keep it classy, too. We had someone take off their tie to blindfold the groom and then send him my way. So he had to find me first. And then I was in control of my dress lifting, and he used his hands by feel. It went pretty quick, but not as quick as if he could see what he was doing. I felt it was rather harmless, and he was very proud of himself when he got to take the blindfold off.
