Keto/Low Carb Unnecessary stress??

wathenwedding17 :  As someone who eats NSNG (but not totally keto) I don’t think you should go off your diet. Keto flu is real.

What kinds of foods will you be eating at your reception that aren’t keto besides cake?

I really thought I was going to be able to try all three types of cake we had. I only had time for one.

Our honeymoon was a different story though, lol.

I’ve been on keto off and on for years. I wouldn’t wait until the wedding and splurge because you’ll feel like crap. I would ease myself into it in the next weeks so that you don’t gain weight but also don’t feel like crap on the big day.

wathenwedding17 :  I used to do keto for how it made me feel. Do you test your ketones? I found that stress will kick you out of ketosis. If I were you, I would bring in carb cycling. What I do now is avoid carbs in the morning, and eat them in the evening. It’s helped handle stress and I sleep like a log (which is from the carbs). Sleep and stress reduction are the most important things here.

I was strict keto for 4 months and coming off of it was a transition in which I felt sick and I put weight back on immediately.  If I were you I’d remain keto through the wedding and then re-evaluate if you want to continue or transition off.

Cheating when it comes to LCHF, Keto and Paleo always leads to immediate weight gain. Carbs will put you back into fat storing mode. Also, the water weight associated with reintroducing carbs will make you puffy. So while you may find a way to cheat in small portions and maintain your weight you will still feel and look bigger than when you were on a low-carb diet. 

I tend toward a Paleo diet because even though it is more restrictive than a Keto diet, it actually takes less effort because I am not as concerned about getting an optimal amount of fat. I just focus on eating enough veggies, meat and occassional fruit to I feel happy and full.
