Yes… it does. Quite often actually… and pretty much kids are the best name calling mashing and rhyme little things EVER and it doesn’t matter WHAT you name your kids.. if they want to make fun of them they will come up with SOMETHING that goes along with their name to do it! lol

My son’s name is Gavin… being a boy he obviously gets dirty but alot of times doesn’t want to take a bath… we call him Smavin.. or smelly gavin. lol

Neighbor is Mia Tortilla

and I am Amnysti (like Amnesty International) They called me AM-NASTY.. yep… it was greeeeeaaaaaat.

lol

Yeah, it happens a lot.
I was serially picked on in school. If it wasn’t caused I was the only girl with red hair, or because everyone thought I was ugly, then it was because my name is Daisy. Oh, I heard it all. I went home crying almost everyday for a long time because the teasing was so bad!

I don’t blame my parents for my name, though. I love my name! It’s very feminine. But kids…well kids are assholes.

Sorry if that statement offends anyone, but it’s true.

Good news?
I grew up a well-adjusted individual. I didn’t snap like I saw some kids do. 🙁

and dont forget stupid spelling of names and one of my nephews has this and ever since he started school (hes 15yrs now) rarely does he get invites/paperwork with the correct spelling of his name and i warned his parents that would happen when they named him

some people should take a test before naming their children

My FH’s name is Akash, and he got teased so much when he was little. They called him all sorts of names, like Osh Kosh B’gosh. But also just made fun of him for having an unique name…

People used to make fun of a more masculine girl named amanda (a man, duh), a kid who’s last name was ‘ferry’ (faerie- gay?), stuff like that. It didn’t happen all the time and its not that they had bad names, they were the kind of people who would have been teased by mean kids no matter what their names were. Kids can be real assholes sometimes.

@runsyellowlites: haha about you calling your son Smavin. My parents were less creative and just called my brother Muck (his name is Wes, no correlation) when he came home all dirty haha.

@eloping Most people can’t even say my name when they see it (as in for roll call.. even in college) That really doesn’t bother me though… I mean who cares, I usually have  to spell my name NUMEROUS times if over the phone as well… it’s rather comical, don’t think that it’s a bad thing though lol

I haven’t used my first name in over 15 years due to being tormented about it. It’s not weird though, it’s usually somewhere from 29th-35th on the most common girls name list for the US.

It happens.
