I have had a scary morning. I woke up to go to work went to the bathroom and had bright red blood when I wiped!
Called the doctor and was told to book it for emergency. Darling Husband is out of town for work until tonight so I called my mom and off we went. Got hooked and rigged up to all sorts of monitors, and got a bunch of tests. Started having contractions!
And in the end I had a kidney infection and ended up with antibiotics. I am home now but I had no idea that any sort of infection in the third trimester could jumpstart pre-term labour!
Anyway, I am sitting on bed rest for the rest of the day, anyone want to share their pregnancy stories??

Sassy9226: I’m currently pregnant, but I don’t really have any “stories” that are all that interesting (just the normal nausea and pregnancy farts lol). I just wanted to say that I hope you’re doing alright and start feeling better soon!

housebee: What I would give for pregnancy farts lol. I was actually skating through until 32 weeks and then it felt walking into a wall, at least now I know why I’ve been feeling so crummy.
How far along are you now?

Oh my! how scary! It’s so easy to confuse pregnancy symptoms with bladder infection symptoms… I’m super familiar with bladder infections, but when I was pregnant with Dirty Delete, I got one and we only caught it by accident before it had a chance to get into my kidneys!
Glad that you were able to stop the contractions…I hope the antibiotics work fast! Are you feeling well otherwise?
I suffer from kidney complications during my pregnancies. For whatever reason, when I am pregnant, I develop hydronephrosis, and my kidneys refuse to drain. The first pregnancy I had 4 surgeries to place stents in my kidney to allow it to drain.. I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant and having the problem again, but hoping to avoid surgery this time, if I can help it!

urchin: wow that’s scary, hope you don’t have to deal with that again.
i have been feeling pretty good this whole time so i am pretty lucky, i don’t really know how we missed the bladder infection, but I haven’t had one since I was a kid so I might have just written it off as pregnant lady problems.
They sent extra cultures out too in case they need to up the dose or change the med. will know for sure by Friday. Contractions did not feel like i thought they would though

Sassy9226: i am not pregnant, and have never been. But I want to share my experience with having a kidney infection.
Being pregnant and having an infection will differ from me being that I was not pregnant when I had one.
Im prone to having them bc of an operation I had when I was younger to correct my urether tubes. They needed to be reimplanted bc they looked like those squiggly straws lol. My parents took me to see a uriologist bc I would constantly get UTIs (urinary tract infections). When I had the operation, they discovered 1/3 of my kidney was damaged.
The doctors told my parents and I learned as I got older that I will be more suseptible to getting UTIs and kidney infections.
Since the operation (ovsr 20 years ago), I have had a handful of UTIs and one kidney infection. Omg, it was painful. I remember exactly how it happened, not sure it was the same for you. I was walking to the kitchen, and out of nowheree a sharp pain, like I got stabbed with a knife. Next day, went to school and right before my last clas I stsrtrd to get hot and feel full body pain, like natter how I sat, I was just in pain. I left class. I called my mom and Darling Husband and I told them to pick me up from the bus stop and take me to the hospital. My mom and Darling Husband think Im so dramatic so they kwpt asking me if I was sure it wasnt gas!!! Lol. Well theu felt crappy when the doctor came back and said “yup, shes right, shes got a bad infection and we are admitting her”. They put me on strong antibiotics. I was there for 3 days.
To prevent UTIs and Kidney infections drink a lot of water, cranberry juice, if you cant stand the juice they have pills. Dont eat a lot of sugar. But water is key bc it flushes you out

Not pregnant, but I had a kidney infection when I was a kid. I became resistent to the antibiotics I was put on, developed an allergy to the second, and relapsed on the third. Good on you for getting everything taken care of immediately — I never once felt sick before my body went into shock and I couldn’t stop shaking or vomiting. I have permenant kidney damage because of it and my kidneys ache all the time.

Feel better soon.

Honestly if not for little bubs violent reaction I probably would have gotten much worse at this rate I am lucky to be looking at minimal to no permanent damage.
i only had some mild cramping and discomfort. Little bubs attempted early exit was the only reason I headed to the hospital today.

Sassy9226: I’m 28 weeks, and so far it’s been alright (the beginning of my pregnancy was a little rough). At least now you know what’s bothering you, feeling sick with no diagnosis is the worst. Hopefully some rest and medicine will do the trick 🙂
