It is fine to invite children in circles, just as most people invite adults in circles.

This happened to me as well. My aunt included her two kids (my cousins) and I freaked out. We are having a small wedding 25-30 people and we decided to limit it to parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and a few close friends. We just had to make a ban on all cousins because we have so many and I didn’t feel it was fair to pick and choose (even though I have my favorites). She ended up being very understanding and was fine with it. My stepmom’s sister and her husband on the other hand were SO offended that I didn’t include their two teenage children that they decided not to come. Which is fine by me. I think they thought I would back down, but I just said sorry they couldn’t make it and moved on.

Ugh. So presumptuous. Even when specifice names are on invitations people still feel entitled to do what they like. I had one couple that put on their RSVP: “and little Kayla makes three!” Um, no. Puts the couple in an awkward position. Granted, this woman was sheepish and admitted to ‘trying it on’!

You have the right to invite the people you want to have at your wedding. This includes children.
