So after a slew of no kids posts, I thought I would share how kids added such a special touch to my wedding, that happened last week! Can’t believe I’m a Mrs now =D
My new niece saw me walking down the aisle..and said “Who is this princess”. Then when her father came up to do a reading, she was worried and said “I don’t want Daddy to marry the princess.” That was the cutest thing ever!
The little girls were really cute with their daddies whirling on the dance floor. I have an amazing picture of my new nieces staring hungrily at the cupcakes, and a friend’s little boy playing with his toy car with cake smudged across his face.
But the star of the shows were the bunch of boys aged 9 to 12. first, they started break dancing on the dance floor. Then they started going up to women in their 20s (2 to 3 times their age) and dancing with them! There’s an awesome photo of my friend with his mouth agape as a little boy twirled his girlfriend around the floor. The boys’ fathers were like..wow I was a loser when I was their age..what happened.
My Darling Husband went up to a boy and said..i saw you dancing..did you get her number? And the kid said “not yet”. That was SO CUTE. Then Darling Husband said..”next time remember to get her number”. Apparently later their dads gave them a little speech about how when they get older women won’t be so receptive..haha.
The naughtiest kids were this bunch of really orthodox kids. They were throwing pepsi and scrapping round but I distracted them with alot of toys. They said really cute stuff too…they said “I like this wedding and the lion dance..but what type of synagogue is this?”
all in all, I’m really glad I invited the kids..=D But kids activity bags full of toys really help!

I’m glad you enjoyed them 🙂 we’re having kids at our wedding, mostly aged 10 & under. We have three of our own (age 4& under) so we can’t deny their cousins from coming. Our reception will be outdoors, so I wanted to do some little outdoor games, also football (is that safe :/ ?) i definitely want to have some hula hoops! the kids are adorable when they attempt to do it!
what kind of toys/activities did you have for them?

Kids can say and do the cutest things. I’m glad they were all so cute and (pretty much) well behaved at your wedding!

I loved this post!!!
We had our three Flower Girl, a baby and a 3 year old at our wedding, all girls. Man did they dance up a storm!! I had so much fun dancing with them. I got some great pics of my brother’s kids and one brothers grand daughter dancing with my Dad. I’m so glad they have those memories of their cousins and family around on such an important day. They will be so excited someday for their own now!

We loved having kids at our wedding too. I like family oriented weddings. The Style of wedding that makes kid free necessary is not for me.

It actually did not take much to keep the kids distracted. i went to the dollar store and got a bunch of colorful bags. I then filled it with cheap toys such as toy balls, coloring books, springies, toy cars, glow bands, puzzles.making sure they were all age appropriate. They all pretty much found a corner and started playing with them.

glad it all worked out for you. it was nicely organized.
i saw one wedding where they actually stopped the dancing for about 30 minutes and had a big pinata brought out for the kids. they loved it. they gathered up their treats and prizes and played with them all night.
