Our caterer told us that if we have kids then we make up the number of people attending. I’m guessing, for instance, if I have 2 kids, then I put that down as 1 person because most kids don’t really eat as much as an adult. We could do that or he also suggested in ordering pizza and give that to kids, it might be cheaper but I don’t know how much these kiddos really eat. I’m also confused about where to put the pizza. If I put it with the buffet people will think that it’s part of the buffet and eat the little tykes food. I need help please!!!!

My venue gave us the choice of spaghetti or chicken nuggets; I went with the nuggets to avoid the mess! Kids love those things!

Kids eat simple food. Some examples are chicken fingers, mac and cheese, corn dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, cheeseburgers, fruit cups. Kids like spaghetti but it’s quite messy so skip that if possible, especially since red sauce stains and kids are not that careful when eating to avoid messes. Then you have the occasional rare child who prefers adult food.
If you do order pizza and place it on the buffet, you will need to have a card of some sort that says it is for the kids. Otherwise you will have adults partaking of it. What are your food options for the adults?

In my experience, picky kids will eat:
1. Chocolate milk.
3. Peanut butter.
4. Practically plastic american cheese.
6. Chocolate milk.
I don’t really imagine kids eating pizza, especially younger kids. I’d go for something like nuggets, personally.

I can’t answer the poll without know more about your wedding! At some wedding, pizza for the kiddie table makes sense, at others it does not! You should do what you want, no matter what!

What does your buffet include? I’m sure there is something they can eat.

we only had one kid. we got her mac and cheese, and when i asked her if she liked it (even though i knew she did) she said no, she wouldn’t eat it. she wanted chicken- no problem, her parents could get that for her in the buffet. but when i saw her at the wedding she was scarfing down that mac and cheese, with a big smile on her face.
if you’re getting the kids pizza i’d ask the caterers to bring it to their table and not put it in the buffet line. even with a sign, adults would probably sneak some!

Does your buffet have options like chicken nuggets, pizza, mac and cheese? If so, I think that is fine.

I am so terrible, but I would really love to see children leave behind the chicken nuggets and eat real food. Did anyone see Jamie Oliver’s new show?
Ok, off my soap box: I think pizza would be easy and if it is cheaper why not. Kids love pizza. That being said, i also think that a lot of kids will find something that they like at a buffet. Can you get a really reduced price p/p for children?

I think you can put it on the end of the buffet (or see if your venue can do a separate table near the buffet) and put a sign that says “Pizza for children under the age of xx only, please” and people should respect it.

@minutiae- That is hilarious. That is a complete list of exactly what my kids will eat. lol. Glad to see that my kids aren’t that unusal.
Maybe you could set up a smaller table and put a cute sign that says kids buffet. That way hopefully the adult guests will get the hint.
