@baletrina: Why wouldn’t a Dyson make as much sense in a small town as in a big city? It’s a quality vacuum.
Although, I can identify with raising eyebrows at someone’s registry. I had a friend register for a $300 porcelain duck at bloomingdales – favorite animal? collector? nature enthusiast? Not that I knew.

Isn’t this like asking why any model is famous? People get famous for just being pretty constantly, the only difference with Kim is that she was already rich and she’s not 6ft tall and skinny.

I agree with @Running Elley:
! I think it totally fits their lifestyle and the people that will be attending the wedding won’t think it’s weird or rude at all! Her sister’s was like this too! At least she has stuff for in every price range like you are supposed to do!

I love Dyson and plan on getting one for Fiance and I. After the wedding.
She registered for two. If her rural family was balking at the $20 needed for her bachelorette party than I can only imagine what they will say about that.
As for Kim… famous for nothing.

@JerseyGirlLaur: I agree with everything you have said. IMO, she is no different than any other reality TV star that people follow. I like the Kardashians. I think they are stylish and I admire the fact that they are such a close knit group, especially since it is a blended family.
With that said – I think her registry is appropriate for her lifestyle. If I had millions mine would look very similar…

@baletrina: I’m guessing if she’s from a big city suburb, that some of her family is, too – so it may not seem excessive to them.
As for Kim Kardashian… well, I’m sure in her circle of friends and family it isn’t excessive.
I’ve been a planner for plenty of girls who’ve registered for items that cost more each than some of my registries combined, but it’s the norm for them so they think nothing of it.

I agree- she isn’t going to register at Macy’s! LOL! She’s a millionare, her friends are millionares!
My cousin married this uber rich Paris Hilton type. They registered at Tiffany’s and Neiman Marcus. The only thing I could afford was a shrimp fork for $100. LMAO!

I like Kim Kardashian personally. No I don’t think she is really that talented of an entertainer, but I think it is refreshing that she doesn’t weigh 90 lbs. If you naturally weigh 90lbs then good for you, but most of us don’t. Kim is drop deap gorgeous, thick, and still physically fit. Girls like her, Beyonce, Kim Hudson, etc are good ways for women to feel ok about not starving themselves. That being said, her registry is ridiculous to me, but being the over-the-top person she is, it fits her.

I’m from the same place and have no plans to register like that. We are just coming out of a recession!

Nothing says home like an $800 ashtray.

This whole thread just cracked me up!! How about not having a registry and donating to charity?
