My favorite Pinterest inspiration photos were all some kind of mermaid or fit and flare, lots of lace and interesting necklines (would have added straps to a strapless one) or backs:

And this is what I bought:

Pretty much an even mix of what I thought I wanted 🙂

The dress that I envisioned and tried on was this one…

But I’ll be going with this one instead.  Still pretty close…

My two inspiration pictures:

My dress. I think I incorporated both inspirations into my own! :

I wanted non-poofy (by my standards), cap sleeved, v-neck dress. What I went with wasn’t too much different than what I wanted, but even my family and I was surprised I went with a “princess” looking gown. You can’t tell by the picture, but it’s more of a scoop neck. No V.

I knew EXACTLY what I wanted and I was honestly surprised at how difficult it was to find!

*Ballgown

*Tulle skirt

*No lace/beading/bling/etc. (this is what got me almost every time)

*Simple yet princess-y

*corset back

It took a little searching, but in the end I managed to find exactly what I was looking for with a beautiful Vera Wang design! The only aspect I ended up compromising on was the corset back…I still REALLY want one and had the dress only included I a zipper I probably would have paid alterations to have it changed. But since this dress actually includes a button design down the back with I adore, I think I’ll be leaving it as is. I only wish there was a prettier stock picture than this, mine won’t have any sort of belt.

I always pictured myself in a giant tulle ball gown with tons of sparkles… or maybe a Grecian column dress with beautiful draping, but the former made me looked dwarfed and the latter made me look thick around the middle.

I ended up with this A-line princess gown, and had straps added to it.

I thought I wanted a flowy A-line or sheath with organza or tulle skirt. I wanted to look like an angel, but what I ended up getting is anything but angel-like, he he…

These were my favorite pinned dresses for a long time.

And this is the dress I bought, looks just like my dream dresses. Clearly I have an obsession with halter dresses.

When we first got engaged and I started thinking about what kind of dress I wanted, I had one style in mind.

Cap sleeve, a line & lace

This was one of the first dresses that I added to my wedding board on Pinterest:

tried on a few similar styles and they just didn’t look right on me.

Here is what I ended up with:

I thought i posted before but I can’t find it. I’m having a hard time reconciling  what I thought I wanted and what I got 🙂 I was thinking lace, cotton, dotted Swiss, tulle, but still a ballgown silhoette. Im not sure if it was desperation for the hunt to be over or what, but I loved this gown and it’s what I decided on. I think the issue with “dress regret” is just that we are all multidimensiobal people and there are SO many options. I loved several Gowns. Wedding will be at a classy barn with outdoor patio/ceremony. whatcha think??

I always thought I’d go for a lace fit and flare with sleeves…this is what I ended up with…
