Hi Bees. So I’m wondering when the rest of you are getting, or got, your wedding dress, relative to your wedding date. I’m getting married June 4. I was originally told that my dress would arrive in February. February came and went, and no dress. I called the bridal salon to ask when the dress would arrive, and they said I could expect it in April (!), “maybe mid-April,” as I was told on the phone.
Is six weeks before my wedding going to be enough time?! I have not picked a veil, jewelry, etc. because I can’t really choose those items without trying the dress on again. I’m worried that six weeks won’t be enough time to get alterations done and to pick out all the accessories. Should I be worried? Or is this normal? Have other girls been in this situation?

I think you should go try on the sample and pick your veil and accessories from that…6 weeks is close, make your appt with your seamstress ahead of time, so the DAY you get it in, you can take it in for alterations, it will only take them 2 weeks, so that still gives you 4 weeks before the wedding…you’re good to go, just use the sample at the bridal store to pick all your accessories!

I think tou will be fine, but as the PP said plan. Have some ideas of jewelry, their location and pricing. Bring pictures with you when you have your first fitting. Most people dont get to bring their dresses home much early so you really arent in a different spot than many others when it comes to veil and jewelry etc.

I am in the exact same situation, wedding is June 16th and dress will come in mid-late April. I don’t have anything yet; shoes, veil, jewelry… 🙂 and on top of it all the sample I tried was in ivory and my dress will be diamond white and they don’t have it in the store so I can’t event try anything on with the sample.
I think we will be ok though, don’t worry too much 🙂

Thanks for talking me down from the ledge. I am not a last-minute kind of gal! I am not anticipating bringing the dress home all that long before the big day, but I was expecting to at least have a first fitting sometime in March. I ordered my dress from a trunk show, so there’s no sample at the bridal salon for me to go try on again. 🙁 Guess I’ll just have to make some decisions pretty quickly as soon as the dress gets here!
