I was purusing the news tonight checking weather b/c my sis called and said in a few hours we’d get the awful storms (they actually had a possible tornado!) that blew through No. Alabama, and I was clicking about here and there and saw this story:
Apparently this woman, of all things, a SOCIAL WORKER totally fabricated a blog about being an expectant single mom who had to figure out how to proceed with a pregnancy with a terminally ill fetus/child who might not live after being born. I read her blogsite via the link (you can click on the screenshot that they captured at the link above) and it was heartwrenching. Heartwrenching IF it were indeed true. This woman deceived thousands, hundreds of thousands of people and so many were sending her gifts and well wishes and offering up prayers to her and the baby.
Why did she do it? Who the hell knows. But as a woman who is (although I am in a serious relationship) technically still a single mother and my child was premature at birth, it makes me furious that somebody would do this for NO APPARENT reason feigning this. I have two friends who delt with the losses of infants. My friend J back home in TN is a real life angel of a mother and has three precious boys but lost her daughter a year before her first son was born.
Sometimes you just wonder what the hell is the motivation of some people to pull stunts like this? Lord I sure hope nobody sent this fraud any money or support! I think the truly sick part is she is by profession a social worker, and probably knew enough of this type of a birth defect or pregnancy issue to sound truly authentic when writing.

Sounds like she had a political motivation behind it, if she was anti-abortion. Sickening.

That makes me so sick to my stomach! How could she do that? I do feel sorry for her though. She obviously is so delusional & demented… the lies & fake blog are really the least of her problems.
If she wants to tell stories she should write a book- not mess with people’s emotions.

I don’t see political motivation at all. I see instead possibly some sort of mental disorder or wanting simply attention.
Yep..more thought about this (I think alot when I write and can start with one opinion and end with another btw), I think she may suffer from some disorder.

What is sick is her MANIPULATION of those who are advocates of children and those who have faith because she talked of her faith and her beliefs and to think this was all fake??? I mean did you read her blog?
Almost like she had a wierd form of munchausen’s…where a parent gets attention through having a sick child.
any psychologist or counselor bees out there who’d like to give their thoughts on this bizarre situation?

people who do this are attention seekers. i know a few military people and ive been told stories of guys blogging online about all their tour exploits when they end up being total losers that couldnt even manage weekend reserves
mental illness and the internet is a bad combination

I just feel sorry for those out there who cried and prayed for her and had so much emotional involvement you know?

That makes me physically ill. I work in NICU and have helped several parents of terminally ill babies. To exploit this type of situation in a hoax to get attention is reprehensible. I rarely wish harm on another people, but this woman deserves to suffer for what she did.

That’s awful. Needless to say, I hope that she doesn’t continue working in social work!
This is why I don’t really support ‘charity’ or ‘good will’ online unless its from a legitimate source (like a Marathon sponsor page). I grew up in a house that whenever someone knocks on your door asking for a donation you give something, even if it is just fifty cents. With what the internet changing the face of fundraising, unfortunately you just can’t risk it!

That IS sick. Sometimes you just wonder what is wrong with some people. She must be mentally ill – there’s no other way to understand it. Even if she hasn’t been clinically diagnosed with anything, I think the act itself speaks of a pathological lack of compassion for others.
Even if she did have some sort of political motivation, there are other outlets for that kind of message.

have you ever seen the night listener? or read this article? http://www.laweekly.com/2007-10-11/news/the-life-and-death-of-jesse-james/
it sounds similar… it’s this weird phenomenon that isn’t all that uncommon now it seems…

It really makes you think what is this world coming too. People are sick in the head.
:::HUGS::: to all of you that have truely ever suffered a loss of a similar kind.. my heart goes out to you.

I went to high school with her. I was pretty surprised to pull up the Chicago Tribune at work and to see her face as the main headline.

sick sick sick sick people out there. I hope they all get what’s coming to them for doing what they’ve done. THIS is why people are skeptical to help others out. Others who truly need it! UGH.

Ok, that’s freaking nuts. After reading that she posted a picture of a lifelike doll … that convinces me that she’s psychotic and may have a mental illness.
I mean, if you tell a little lie … it can be forgiven and you can build back everyones trust, but this is beyond that by a million miles.
She like created a new identity and lived it though the internet. I mean, what did she want, sympathy or attention … that’s so insane what she did
Imo, she really needs help of professionals … I think she is obviously suffering some kind of illness or something. I’m not a doctor, but I think she needs help.
That’s like way beyond a fantasy or dream … and I could go on and on! I would be furious if I prayed and cried for her and sent her gifts …
