Amazon’s Kindle is generally “better”. I was reading about it last night that Amazon’s prices are usually more aggressive and they have better app support and reader support as well.

Nook’s sales are crashing, so, gotta be a reason for that.

I don’t have one, but if I were to get one, I’d get the Kindle because I’m a huge fan of Amazon.

I’ve been researching e-readers lately because I want one from Darling Husband for Christmas.  Everything I’ve found and heard about states that Kindles are superior to Nooks, at least right now, maybe until Nook catches up with the new Paperwhite backlight technology.

@Hyperventilate:  I think the reason Nook sales are crashing is becasue they are priced significantly higher than the Kindle. The 8 GB Nook HD is $199. The 16 BG Kindle is the same price. I have a Nook now, but when I go to upgrade to the more tablet like e-reader, I am going to go Kindle.

I think its personal preference. I prefer the nook. I feel its more versitile. This is like the mac vs pc question or android vs iphone. Its all personal preference.

I love my Nook. The battery seriously lasts a million years ( not really but you catch my drift ๐Ÿ™‚ )

It doesn’t have as many downloadable apps though. This is ok with me becuase I mostly use it for reading and just open the browser if I want to go on Pinterest or FB !

I have a Kindle Fire and just got Fiance Kindle Fire HD for his bday. We both love them! They’re basically the same as ipads, except you need Wifi to get online with them. I still use mine primarily for reading, but Fiance does tons of stuff on his…everything from readins books and graphic novels/comic books (NERD!) to surfing the web and writing notes while in meetings.

@Sunfire:  Nook has had backlight technology for a while on their color models. I really reccomend avoiding reviews of products made by profesional reviewers they are paid to hype one product over another. Instead go touch the product in a store and see the real differences. I personally would never buy a kindle. That doesnt make the product more or less superior its just personal preference. Of course that reviewer who is paid to advertise one product over another will hype the one who gives him the most kick backs.

Just a note you cant side load books into a Kindle, you can do that on a Nook. This means more books for free often before they hit the US shelves.

@abbie017:  Wrong! You can side load books from anywhere onto the Nook, you an only download from amazon onto the kindle. That is a major drawback for me on the kindle.

I voted for the wrong one, woops

I have a color nook and I love it. It’s a couple years old so it’s not the tablet or hd or anything but it’s great. I got the color version because all the black & white one’s at the time had a horrible flash when you turned the page and it really bothered my eyes. Haven’t looked at them lately to see what advances have been made in the last couple years. I chose the Nook so that I could read books from the library on it which you couldn’t do with the Kindle at the time (not sure if that’s changed)
