You can try making them yourself, I think that will be the cheapest route. I made my own I followed tutorials from other bees

@misskarianne:

I am making my own black, purple and white fabric pom balls. I got a circle cutter for 40% off, and my fabric for 2.50 a yead (still kind of expensive I think Walmart has fabric that is thick for 1.90), and six to 9 packs of foam balls for 5$.I made 10 balls so far so my guess is each ball costs about 5-7$ to make. The time is what gets this project. It takes anywhere from 1 hour to two hours to make a ball. I will be selling mine after my wedding for atleast 10$ a ball.

I decided against tissue becuase my wedding is so far away and I didn’t want them to crinkle. Plus finding purple or black tissue was a nightmare, I did find a 900 pack online though but it was 45$. I love the finished product of my fabric ones but I totally see why they are so expensive to buy.

I hope this helps! Pm me if you have any questions.

I lucked out and got bunches of mums at Dollar Tree last fall.  Each bunch had about 12-15 flower heads and they were $1/bunch.

I looked everywhere for inexpensive pomanders.  You may find some on Craigslist or in the Want Ads on bridal sites, but I think your best bet is to make them yourself.

Try dollar tree for the flowers, and if you do make your own, use a 4″ styrofoam ball – they come in 2 packs and are cheaper than the 5″  🙂

I made tissue paper ones – bought my paper from papermart.com and styrofoam and ribbon with coupons and sales at Michaels/JoAnns/AC Moore.  Time was the biggest investment with them.

As long as they don’t get too beat up at the wedding I’ll be trying to resell them.

I’m making my own.  I got all the supplies at Hobby Lobby and usually its all on sale for 50% off anyway.  Super easy to make as well.
