Good Morning Bees!
I’m wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the glass clinking and the couple kiss tradition? We’re not having real glasses at our reception, so this is not an option for us. While googling, I came across several ideas, but my favorite was to have tables sing a song with the word “love” in it in order for us to kiss. The more I thought about it, the more I liked it, so I came up with a little poem to put on each of the tables:
What a wonderful day for Dudley & Michelle
You’re all so sweet to wish them well
Today they start their wedded bliss
A milestone that should be sealed with a kiss
There’s no glasses to clink or bells to ring
Instead you must do one simply thing
Gather your table, everyone must stand
And for a kiss make a gesture so grand
Sing us a song that contains the word “Love”
And kisses between the newlyweds you’ll see plenty of
Thoughts? Any other thoughts on the whole tradition?

I think any excuse to kiss your new husband should be seized!
I love your poem – very creative! and I like the idea of not chinking glasses. I think you should go with whatever works for you and your Fiance.

That poem is really cute. I’m doing the same thing at my June 23rd wedding so you’ll have to let me know how it’s received by guests 🙂

i went to a wedding where we did this! there was no poem and i don’t remember if it was a kissing thing….but whatever, i thought it was cute! at first, i was like, “omg, this is going to be stupid,” lol. but it was fun to see the different songs people came up with and sometimes the whole crowd would join in whatever song it was. i say do it 🙂

Hahahahahah!! That’s a great idea…much better than the clinking, because sometimes people abuse this and it really gets annoying. I actually went to a wedding where the bride told people to cut out the clinking and sing a song if they REALLY wanted to see the couple kiss, because they were having trouble talking to people and eating their dinner. It was hilarious!!!

Such a cute poem!! I despise the glass clinking/kissing thing.. but I know there’s no way to stop it. So I’m just going to suck it up, smile & kiss him.

I’m preparing a list of “Bride & Groom Trivia” questions: when the glasses start clinking, the emcee is going to read a question and if someone can answer it correctly, we’ll kiss. Some of the questions are kind of obscure, others are things that many friends or family members would know … stuff about how we met, our first date, what our parents were going to name us if I had been born a boy or Fiance had been born a girl, stuff about us when we were little kids, etc.
