So my Fiance and I close on our house soon and it definately needs some paint refreshing. Our appliances are delievered 2 days after we close and I wanna make sure we have the kitchen repainted before they go in.
We have light oak cabinets and we’re wanting to eventually replace them / stain them a darker brown (really dark brown, maybe a cherry dark brown). We have black appliances with silver accents (if you wanna look it up, its whirlpool black ice collection).
Any color suggestions? It’s currently a yellow/ pale gold kinda color, we considered keeping it that color but I’m not sure. Our living room near the kitchen is going to be painted a neutral gray color. Not sure if that helps any.

@cupcakebride2013: I would definitely go choose a light colored paint. Dark cabinets should be offset with lighter walls. I would suggest beiges/creams.

Paris Rain by Benjamin Moore. It’s a beautiful gray green color and matches perfectly to gray walls in the living room- that’s exactly what our house has 🙂

Or, Balboa Mist also by Benjamin Moore a soft “greige” which will transition nicely from the grey in the living room and work with your cabinets.

What about a cool grey? It would blend well with the appliances and the cabinets both now and after staining. I think yellow/gold will clash big time with both the appliances and the oak undertones.

Thanks ladies for all the suggestions. I kinda wanted to paint the kitchen a different color then grey since the living/family room would be grey.
I love the idea of doing a beige color. But I’m just not sure. There is SOO much light that is let in the kitchen, I kinda want it to be bright. I know… i’m so confusing =/

Well ladies, we have until the 19th to decide. But I think we’ve come to the conclusion of painting our kitchen a tan/beige color.

@cupcakebride2013: hey we’re in the same boat! Haha. Well, our kitchen is a little different – white cabinets and appliances, light countertops, we plan on keeping it white – but the kitchen opens up into our living room, which I painted a deep gray color. I’ve been debating what color to paint the kitchen that will complement the gray. I’m leaning towards light blue or light green, but haven’t decided yet!
