I have 3 pets (2 cats and a dog). None of them are crated at night and are free to roam the apartment, although the dog stays in the bed all night. I don’t know why, but recently one of my cats has started going crazy in the middle of the night! She runs around, jumps off things and scratches the walls! She’s only doing this in the bedroom. I think she wants attention, or maybe she’s bored. All of my pets are neutered/spayed, so it’s not a desire to mate or anything like that. Any ideas on how to make her stop or what the problem is?

@Bichon Frise: Cats are more active at night by nature.
I’d try to play a lot right before bedtime to tire her out a bit.
My cat used to do that, but as he’s gotten a bit older he’s calmed down and sleeps on our bed with us most of the night.
Now we need to get him to stop waking us up at 5am wanting breakfast!

Your cat wants your attention, and doesn’t care that you’re sleeping…lol. Like PP said, have some playtime before bed. My cat will cry all night and through the morning if I don’t give him his proper amount of attention before bed. I also leave some toys out for him to play with as well.

Thanks guys! I’ll try giving her more attention before bedtime. Hopefully, that will help.

Our cat is the same way. She has control issues and will wake us at all hours of the night if we let her in the bedroom. She use to sleep with us every night, until the craziness began. It makes me sad to close her out of the room, but we needed to get some sleep.
