@Andilene: Thank you so much, you’re a sweetheart! I haven’t seen any other brides posting photos of the Merielle – I wonder if there are any others there?!? I scoured the boards looking for photos of other brides in it (perhaps I should make a new post asking for pictures?)
I never thought I’d get married, much less wear a huge ballgown – so it’s been a lot to take in, I think I’m just overwhelmed – but us girls have to trust our Mommas right?! That’s what they’re there for 🙂

The dress looks great on you and it’s a gorgeous dress! I also ended up buying a dress that was the total opposite of what I originally (thought) I wanted. I went in sure I wanted a fitted trumpet or drop waist gown, but the dress I finally bought is an empire waist ball gown/a-line – with pockets (love!) and a flower detail similar to yours. I think no matter what, you will always have doubts because there are so many more dresses out there, and maybe it’s not fun to be done dress shopping already, but the dress is perfect, and you have such a great story to go with it! Own it! 🙂

Ok, after reading all of that I needed to comment. First, that dress is very beautiful. I love the top and it fits great. Second, it is kind of cool to say yes to your dress from Keinfield so your mother is excited. However, this is your big day and I feel you need to be 100% happy and comfy in the dress. Now since I haven’t seen your venue I can only comment off you saying it’s modern. Maybe, I am missing something but that dress is very modern. I feel you can jazz it up a bit if you want it more modern. Add a bride cage veil, maybe some color (like a colored sash or funky jews or shoes). In the end, I think you will be fine. Your Fiance would be floored because the dress is very pretty. I personally got a dress I love from a high end store, it wasn’t want I thought I wanted if I seen it hanging on a hanger but sometimes faith kicks in, just like you traveling to NY during their Blow Out sale and me finding a beautiful dream dress. Good luck.

I think the dress is beautiful! I’m going with a tulle skirt now, and at first I thought that it wouldn’t work well with my outdoor wedding, but I know everything will be fine! It’s gonna look gorgeous. And you’re gonna look gorgeous with that gown at your modern venue. I think we all think about how the dress will fit the venue a little bit too much. We should really be focusing on how it makes us feel. I’ve also seen ballgowns on a beach… just sayin’

@PhillyProper: OMG I’ve never seen that one! IT’S SOOOO FRICKEN PRETTY!!!! I actually have the Cleo, but I think that your dress looks amazing on you. It’s unique and fun! I don’t know if you have a flare for the dramatics, but I think a super dramatic, voluminous, two-tiered veil would look amazing with that dress. However, you have to do what you feel is right. Maggie dresses are not very hard to sell so you could always sell it if you change your mind and recoup some of your money.

Oh wow! I’ve been away for a while and didn’t realize there were sit bees leaving comments!!
Thank you so much for all of the extremely nice comments! It has been super encouraging to hear feedback from people other than my mother 🙂 I really am excited about the dress and can’t wait to take it to my seamstress to get it hemmed and bustled. I think once it is the appropriate length it’ll look even better. I’ll be sure to post an updated picture when it’s all said and done – I still haven’t seen any other real life brides in the Merielle – any out there!?
@MrsB2012: accessorizing is going to be fun! I was thinking a double veil . . something dramatic, definitely. And for jewlery, no necklace, but dramatic earrings? . . I pinned a fun pair on my Pinterest board (username! purplejello)
