So ladies, I have been talking about Kleinfelds non-stop for a couple weeks. I got an appointment for yesterday for the sample sale/Anne Barge truck show. I was soooooo disapointed. I got Diane (she’s the blonde with the short bangs from the show) and she is soooo pushy and kept reminding me that my budget wouldn’t get me much. She didn’t bring me the undergarments to use to try things on or the robe like all the other girls had to go look through dresses in.
I tried to explain I was really there for the sample sale but kept telling me nothing would fit me (I’m an 8-10 and the samples are like a 4-6) and I didn’t even get a chance to really look during my appointment (afterward I DID find dresses in my size I would have loved to try on). She was so insincere, rude, and I was so sad.
On the positive, I did meet Anne Barge who came over to tell me I looked stunning in her dress (which I loved and was out of my budget) and I looked timeless like Grace Kelly… she was wonderful, warm, and so sincere. If I had the money, I would definitely have gotten an Anne Barge dress.
I am by no means trying to deter anyone from going to Kleinfelds, just needed to vent because I was just so disapointed… I was pretty much in tears afterward. I really hope that you all, if you decide to go, have a much better experience.

Aw man, that’s horrible. I’m so sorry you had a bad experience! I’d write to the store to let them know about your time there. I hope they haven’t lost sight of who their true client base is. And that just because the camera’s aren’t there doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be giving the brides the best service.

I’m really sorry you had such a bad experience there! Please don’t let it get you down. I had a terrible sales consultant there too – she told me that she didn’t think I knew what I wanted. A week later I found the dress of my dreams at Priscilla of Boston. Just take some time before going to your next dress shop. I actually found the service at the NYC Priscilla of Boston to be quite good – the consultants weren’t pushy, and they thought it was perfectly reasonable that I wanted to come back with my mother before purchasing the dress.
If you loved the Anne Barge dress, is it possible to find it online for less or to find a used dress? I bought my flower girl dresses at RK Bridal, and it was half the price of the other shops. There isn’t much service there, but it looked like brides could walk through the racks and pick out their dresses. If you are an independent shopper, you might prefer that. Just make sure to go during the week, since I hear it is a madhouse on the weekend.

Does http://www.oncewed.com or http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com have the dress? That might make up for the horrible experience. I hate when sales people are snooty… I mean, aren’t they supposed to be there to help?

Aww, that sucks!!!! Dianne has never seemed that nice.
I think Kleinfeld is all about your sales associate — I had a great experience there, but I could see how it could go downhill fast. If I had had Dianne instead of Debbie, I might have felt the same way.
I second the advice to search for the dress online/at other places. Kleinfeld might mark up more than other stores. Call Anne Barge’s HQ in Atlanta, and maybe they can help you out

I agree with PP — Dianne never seems nice! — and you can find your dream dress online for less, if you don’t care if it’s used! I think if it’s the dress, you should try your best to search for it before giving up totally. Good luck!!!

I’m so sorry you had a bad experience. When did it become so acceptable for salespeople to insult the people they are helping? I’ve heard, read, and experienced similar stories about wedding dress shopping, and for all the hype the dress gets, you would think the people helping you would be able to make it positive all the way around. I agree with others that maybe with a little bit of searching you might be able to find that dress with a better price.

Wow that totally blows. Could you complain to Kleinfeld’s customer service? Not that I’d count it would get you far, but expressing your disappointment in someone specifically b/c they weoudn’t listen, were rude, and almost put you in tears really says something.
And I would DEFINITELY call around the other stores and see if they can work with you. Kleinfelds is a big name, after all, and a lot of what you’re paying for when you walk in there is the prestige of being there I think. Espeically since it’s a television show, too.
There is a store here in StL–Town & Country Bridal that sells Anne Barge dresses, too. And I’d TOTALLY keep an eye out for used dresses.

I’m sorry about your bad experience! But New York is enormous and has a ton of dress stores! I’m positive you’ll find one that can work with your budget.
If you’re interested in samples, there are a lot of online options too.

I would definitely call Kleinfeld’s; I bet they would give you another appointment with a different saleswoman, and who knows–maybe even throw in a discount. It never hurts to ask! I’m sorry you had a bad experience–I did as well. My saleswoman, Jacqueline, was completely uninterested in actually picking out dresses that would look good, and only interested in telling me that the ones I wanted to try on would look terrible. So don’t get her either!

Also definitely check out Wedding Atelier and Bridal Reflections–I had wonderful experiences at both stores.

I’d say call them and let them know about your experience. I’d be so disapointed too – if I didn’t get my dress so fast, my second plan was to fly out to New York and go see someone at the infamous Kleinfeld’s. I’d be totally crushed if I had the same experience you did. Utterly crushed.

Aww, I’m sorry you had such a disappointing experience!
I feel bad that all you guys didn’t like Dianne! She was my consultant, and I thought she was fabulous and not pushy at all! She even threw in a bigger discount because the veil I fell in love with was just over my budget and she got me a price that worked with my budget.
I would definitely call Kleinfeld’s and let them know what happened You can get another appt with a different consultant.

Thanks for all the support ladies!! My mom is definitely writing a letter or calling. Other than meeting and talking with Anne Barge, it was so disapointing. I have definitely had better experiences at smaller salons and know that it’s all about the hype and flash of Kleinfelds… at least I had the experience so I can stop fantasizing about it everyday!!
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE LOVE!

I’m sorry but the saleslady telling you there are no samples in your size was a big fat lie meant to try to get you to buy a regular dress! I bought my dress from a sample sale at Kleinfeld’s (although my consultant was wonderful) and it’s a bridal size 10. So there ya go…
I’m SO sorry you had such a bad experience. I would absolutely call back, explain what happened and see if you can make another appt with a different consultant for the next sample sale. The deals are good, it seems like Diane is just a snot! But again, horrible that you were so upset after what should have been a fun, happy experience!
