hilsy 85 Jacqueline was my sales consultant too!  She was really unhelpful and seemed particularly disinterested in her job.  I wasn’t too impressed with Kleinfeld’s staff, but I was glad to be able to try on a lot of dresses and narrow down what I wanted.

Im sorry you had a bad experience! Im sure you can probably find the dress somewhere else OR now that you know what it is you like/want you could go to a smaller boutique and see if they have it or someting similar?

Aw I’m so sorry it didn’t go well. She seems kinda bitchy on the show so I’m not surprised she wasn’t great in person either, I’m just sorry that you got stuck with her! I’m glad your mom is calling, they need to know how she acted rude about your budget etc.

I’m sorry it didn’t go well!!  You WILL find the dress of your dreams though, Kleinfelds or not.  Best wishes.

@professorbee–totally! I was shocked at her attitude. She basically rushed me through the appointment, only had me try on about 5 dresses (most of which I knew immediately I didn’t like, so it’s not like I had them on for 15 minutes each), and got REALLY upset when I realized I had forgotten my top 5 dresses which your’e supposed to print out and bring with you. Definitely not fun.

Awww that sucks! You should definitely let them know about your experience there. I had a great experience with Renee, but then again I wasn’t trying to mess with any sort of sample sale/trunk show situation.

Boo Diane! I don’t like her on the show either.

I am sorry it was not a good experience. If you like Anne Barge I would try calling Mark Ingram’s as they carry her designs there too.  They have trunk shows and give great discounts. I had Tammy and she was really helpful and actually gave me  a discount even though the trunk show wasn’t for another month.

Man, that sucks, I’m sorry you had a bad experience. On the show Dianne seems like the most $$$ driven. She’s nice if you have a big budget but otherwise she’ll either have no time for you, or if she thinks you can stretch the budget she’ll try to trick you into falling in love with something more expensive. Seems like a seasoned and shrewd saleswoman but not who I’d want helping me either.

It’s really odd that their samples are size 4-6 (or so they claim). In LA I’ve been to a dozen stores and I have yet to try on something smaller than a 10. I don’t think NY’ers are that much thinner than here!

Did you get to look at any Pnina Tornai’s? That’s the one reason I’d be tempted to fly out if I didn’t have a dress. I’m curious how her dresses look in person and are worth the hype and the hefty price tags.

Wow – that sucks. I was hoping you’d have a blast because I know you were psyched. I didn’t know they had undergarments you can use, but I wore my own so maybe that’s why. I didn’t get a robe either and I would’ve appreciated it since my Dad came with my mom & I. I had – I think her name was Rosaria – she was very nice but I felt the same way when I told her my price. She was polite and very nice but she didn’t go out of her way to be helpful or anything when I told her my price point for samples.

And I 2nd what trailmix said. I’m a size 10-12 and most of the dresses she brought me were 10’s that fit me just fine except for the hem and a couple 12’s that she had to clip in the back.

I don’t think contacting them is going to get you anything more than an apology, but you deserve at least that.

Habibah14, i’m really sorry to hear you had such a bad experience 🙁  i think everyone else is right that it totally depends on your consultant. i hear great things about keasha, and my consultant, audrey, was absolutely AWESOME, but going in i was TERRIFIED that i’d get a bad, pushy, impatient, careless mean one like so many of them seem on the show, especially since i ended up going by myself since mom couldn’t make it and Maid/Matron of Honor overslept that morning.  i totally lucked out!  it sucks that how good your kleinfeld experience will be is totally luck of the draw. 🙁 i’m sure you will find the perfect dress somewhere else and will totally feel good about buying it there because they’ll treat you so much better!

meliss, about the pninas in real life: yes, they are incredible! the downside is that, because they’re so popular, they tend to be some of the dirtier, limper, less fresh dresses if they’re older, which my consultant made sure to point out–they look a million times better when they’re newer.  but even though the two i tried on were a little dirty and saggy, you could tell that they were amazing creations.  they are beautifully constructed, so much attention is given to detail, and the quality of the silk is to die for.  they’re awesome, and after idealizing one particular dress for months, i was not at all disappointed when i tried on the somewhat dirtied, worn version of it in the store.  i was undeterred enough to decide that it is THE dress!

That sucks that you had to go through that.  I would try to find the dress you really loved from another source.  I ended up finding my $1800 gown on ebay for $300 including shipping!  Also, don’t let that define how you feel about dress shopping or the dress in general.  Chalk this experience up to a bad sales consultant and forget about it.  No need to dwell on what was so obviously a bad and isolated experience!

I’m so sorry that you had this terrible experience!  I wonder if we were there on the same day?!  I was there on Saturday the 16th.  I had Kesha as my consultant, and if you get back to Kleinfelds or want to give it another chance, I HIGHLY recommend requesting her!  She was really, really wonderful.  I actually ended up going with an Anne Barge dress (she was having her trunk show that day) which makes me think that we WERE there around the same time!  I think that everyone has great ideas about trying to find the dress through some other source… I’ve also heard that having a dress custom made isn’t nearly as expensive as you would think it would be… If you wanted to take a picture of the dress to somebody and see if they could re-create it.  Whatever happens, I wish you the best of luck in finding your dream dress!

Thanks veganglam! I was so tempted to make a trip to NY but I didn’t want to do it alone and there was noone who would go with me. I like my dress but if I see a used Pnina somewhere before the wedding that I love, I may end up with two dresses.

That’s such a bummer, Habibah!  I hope you find a better shop or they make up for it somehow!
