    I got a Vera Wang knock off from light in the box and was surprised at how heavy and good quality it was.

    It was almost too good because it was way heavier than I expected.

    Lately I have seen a couple on the boards that were decent dresses for the money (keeping in mind they were a few hundred bucks).  The fabrics and trims are never the same quality and so they really are not going to look like the original manufacturer, especially if it is a high end designer.  Not everyone is bothered by the quality issues.  If you are, then definitely don’t go this route.

    I got my dress from Dressilyme.com and love it. It doesn’t look exactly like the original, but the quality is excellent. I love my dress.

    Well, honestly, no one will be looking closely enough to notice. The only person who will see if the fabric is different is looking WAAAYYY to close at you. And you will be the only one who will see the label anyway. I’m not a fashion person so don’t really get the need for a designer name brand, but then again I rock Walmart and Target clothes all the time. If it looks good from a few feet away, and good in photos, then who cares if it is a knock off?

    @Fairy_in_love:

    If properly made with great attention to detail, a replica dress can often be even better than the original dress you try on in bridal salons ๐Ÿ™‚

    I’m pleased with mine. I got it from Babyonline. I’ve heard that Dressilyme is really good too. The brand dress I tried on was made with silk taffetta, this was made with polyester taffetta. It is fully lined and boned. I took it to a seamstress and explained that it was a knock off dress and asked if they would be able to do all the alterations to it that i needed. They said that they would and that it was well made enough for them to be impressed with the quality–they had seen terrible ones before where they weren’t able to fix them.

    Photos aren’t the best–I was trying to avoid the taffetta flash. ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s mine:

    I am extremely pleased with the dress that we got for our daughter.  She fell in love with the Amsale Tyler dress from the movie the hangover and we simply couldn’t afford the original.  I just have this thing about used gowns, so I set out to find a reputable place of business that did inspired gowns.  Thats when we came across http://www.mybigfatbeautifulwedding.com.  Fortunately their store is in Michigan so my daughter and I were actually able to make an appointment and see the quality of the gowns before we purchased.  Her gown came in last week and it is perfect.  After the holidays, I am going to post photos and a review.  She is over seas so I am going to have to take a picture of it hanging and the train is a little long so I need some time.  But here is the picture http://www.mybigfatbeautifulwedding.com/Liv-Ball-Gown-wedding-dress-p/m1103.htm  I hope this helps you.  These dresses in this thread are all beautiful ladies!

    Obviously the quality is going to be less, because its a “knock off” and made for a much cheaper price. As far as it looking like a cheap dress, I’ve seen many china replicas that look great! On that same note, I’ve seen many that look less than satisfactory. If that is the route you want to take, you need to keep an open mind and always remember that the dress will never be exactly the same.
