I got my dress, but it needs minor alterations (cups sewn into the top, taken in a bit, and an extra slip sewn into the dress). I was told about a place called Alterations Express on McKnight Rd in Pittsburgh, but I’m not sure if they are any good after reading some negative reviews online.
I need to find a good seamstress soon so I can make my appointment asap. I’m just really worried that I’ll end up paying a lot of money for a terrible job like my sister did when she got married.

I’m also gonna bump this, but I’m going to do some research. One of my friends mentioned someone in like Gibsonia or Wexford when I needed a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress done last year. I’ll have to ask her again.

I don’t know for a wedding dress, but I had great experiences with Alterations Express when I was a bridesmaid. My friend had custom-made dresses and mine needed a number of alterations, and they were wonderful!

Okay, thanks! Alterations Express seems pretty hit or miss I guess. I’ve read quite a few negative reviews online, but there were some positive and my FI’s sister went there when she got married and said they were good.

Marie’s Place!!!! 412-462-2400 3911 Main Street Munhall, PA 15120. A woman that I worked with recommended Marie to me. When she called the place where she had her dress altered, we learned that Marie had recently left to open her own tailoring shop, so that’s where I went. Marie has been wonderful! Her prices are more than reasonable, she does beautiful work and she never makes you feel like you should have come in months earlier if you wanted X, Y, or Z done. Marie shortened the length, added bra cups, made a bustle, and switched my back from a zipper to a beautiful corset with a modesty panel all for $125. I also picked up some tulle from Joanne fabrics (less than 10 bucks), bought a 4inch hair comb (maybe 5 bucks?), brought it all to Marie and she made me a beautiful fingertip length veil for $25. She even found a matching ribbon for the edge. It was always just me at the shop figuring stuff out and so I appreciated Maries help with choosing matching materials, even picking out jewelry. She is kind, patient, and most important a fabulous seamstress. I tried to post a review for her under vendors but since she’s not listed I couldn’t figure out how to add new? She also is hard to find online, probably since her store is maybe only a year old and she has no website.
